Schiff: Who rejected the 25 defenses the IRS had to this sham lawsuit? Who rejected them? Who said we're just going to go with the president's agreement and the slush fund?
Blanche: There was a lot of discussion internally.
Schiff: But you made the decision?
Blanche: We made the decision to settle the case, yes.
Booker: On the same day that paramount shareholders voted to approve the merger, David Ellison, the head of the acquiring company, hosted a dinner that you attended. While you were at that dinner, the DOJ was still investigating a merger. Do you believe that that creates an appearance of impropriety that you were at a dinner?
Blanche: No.
Welch: Mel Gibson punched his then girlfriend in the teeth, threatened her with a gun while she had their infant in her arms. You asked, or one of your people asked Liz Oyer to provide a letter that basically said, okay, we can restore his gun rights. Is that correct?
Blanche: That happened the day I was starting
Welch: Two days after.
I resigned from Google DeepMind bc it broke its founding promise by selling AI to the military without restrictions against killer robots or mass spying.
For months, I worked to stop this but watched powerful ethicists and institutions choose silence.
Here's what happened. 🧵
Cleveland councilman Brian Kazy explains that he no longer trusts Flock after learning late in the game that there's a "side door" to access footage recorded on the company's cameras around the city.
MAGA stupids will often show up on my timeline and tell me I should “fix my own country.”
It’s adorable that people living in a country with mass shootings, medical bankruptcies, politicians banning rights & a pedophile in the White House somehow think Canada is the fixer-upper.
Don’t miss this one from @CarolLeonnig:

The parasite causing explosive diarrhea makes clear that functional public health infrastructure matters.
But Trump's latest CDC nominee didn't KNOW Trump made monitoring this parasite optional and STILL wouldn't give me a firm commitment she'd make it mandatory again.
Absurd.
There is one major problem with Rep. Jeffries’ suggestion that we simply criminally investigate and prosecute every ICE agent who breaks the law…
All new hires were taught to violate the constitution.
A whistleblower testified under oath before Congress, months ago, that ICE recruits were being trained in ways that instructed them to violate the Constitution.
Former ICE assistant chief counsel and academy instructor, Ryan Schwank, testified that the agency’s own training was teaching recruits to disregard constitutional protections.
This is not a handful of bad actors going rogue.
This is a system that has been built to normalize abuse, remove accountability, and make violating the constitution easier to carry out.
That is why I have been able to post at least one video a day, since September, showing ICE agents violating people’s constitutional rights.
The problem is not just the agents in the field.
The problem is the entire agency.
This will not be solved with a new training memo, or a new director.
It requires dismantling a system that has repeatedly failed to protect constitutional rights… and holding this administration accountable.
“Fighting communism” means using the government against the American people who you don’t like and call it “fighting communism”. It’s fascist. What is bad about Russia is their totalitarian state that attacks the people.
PADILLA: Should the DOJ be independent or not?
BLANCHE: The DOJ is under the executive branch
PADILLA: The DOJ's own website, right on the homepage, states that its core missions are independence and impartiality
Durbin: "Is it not true that Congress had to pass a law requiring the Trump administration to disclose the Epstein files?"
Blanche: "President Trump signed that law."
Durbin: "After overwhelming numbers of House members and Senate members voted for it…because the administration would not voluntarily release those documents."
BOOKER: Were you involved in Ghislaine Maxwell's transfer for a minimum security orison camp?
BLANCHE: We learned she was received threats
BOOKER: When people are under threats in the Bureau of Prisons facility, they are not moved to a camp
