Claude: “this was the predictable cost of last July’s deadline sell-off of Duran, Jax, Varland, and Stewart. Painful footnote: Varland is currently running a 0.96 ERA as Toronto’s closer.” Ouch!
Using Claude Fable, I asked how many more wins the Twins would have with a league average ERA in the bullpen. 5 wins is the conservative answer according to Claude. 49-42, 1st in the division.
@MNBrianHall Tough offseason. So much of this was injury driven and now Randle’s value is so low. But, the team was built to beat Denver and they aren’t the team to beat anymore. Nobody outside of Ant is off the table.
@mngopher21 It was a lose/lose decision. I was debating doing the half but my decision was that I don’t put my running shoes on that early in the morning :)
@mngopher21 The logistics of option 1 sounds like a nightmare for volunteers. If they cancelled the day before and the weather changed for the better that would have been worse. There’s a runners subreddit- a lot of people on there ran it anyway but still say the right call was made.
@MNBrianHall If positions are considered, he’s an all-star since he’s the 2nd best SG in the West outside of Booker. If not, he’s going to need to do what he’s doing now consistently to be in the conversation next year and with Towns that’s difficult. A lot of shots available right now.
Just for fun, the next 5 on the list are kind of interesting- Kingman (750), Thome (748), Kiner (744), R. Howard (737), Killebrew (735). Khris Davis just misses the top 10. Hank Aaron and Pujols are hover around top 30.
Top 5 HR leaders of all time (retired) if you give everyone the same amount of plate appearances as Bonds- McGwire (959), Ruth (847), Sosa (775), J.Gonzalez (765), Bonds (762). Now, give Judge (870) and Stanton (792) the same amount over a full career....
