I spent 10 years pitching professionally. Late innings, high stakes, every emotion in the book. Some nights you’re untouchable, other nights you can’t get an out to save your life. Watching Kirkering last night hit me hard. Unless you’ve stood on that mound with the game on your shoulders, you can’t really understand it. That place can make you feel like a hero, and it can also be the loneliest spot on earth. No hiding, no excuses. Baseball and sports in general can be the best job in the world and the cruelest all at once. My heart went out to him.
In terms of scouting pitchers, I think there should be an EVIL tool. Most great pitchers are at least somewhat evil in spirit. I'd like to see where draft prospects rate in terms of evil on the 20 to 80 scale.
The fact that the officiating in the 1st won’t get any further attention is the only thing sadder than the Stu haters tonight. Make the refs talk to the press after games!!
@kami4374@dstaples The beat writer for Vegas was on a podcast recently and said Alex Pietrangelo told him he could have broken his wrist on this play if he wanted to. He knew what he was doing
REMINDER that Van Gogh painted "The Starry Night" in a mental asylum, Dostoevsky wrote "The Gambler" to pay off gambling debts, and Dickens wrote "The Christmas Carol" when he was broke and his wife on their 5th child. Stress has produced more art than "slow saturdays" ever will
