Step one is decide the problem – is this just a solution for low/lower income people? That lead you One Direction.

Is this supposed to be a solution which helps everybody & gets cars off the road to reduce traffic? That leads you an entirely other direction (subsidized carpooling, HOV Lanes, subsidized rideshare, etc.).

Let’s be honest and professional – first define the problem and agree what problem we’re solving. Then with full transparency proposed solutions.

Expanding WeGo is like a doctor prescribing OxyContin sight unseen without looking at the symptoms of the patient or explaining the cost/side effects then handing a bill to everyone in town who did not even get treated.

There was a time when Nashville residents rode horses. There was a time when there were little cable cars. Then the market moved on to better solutions.

There was a time when people liked riding buses but now that number is down to 0.7%. Almost nobody which is why anyone who’s honest knows WeGo buses drive around empty.

A city budget is a fixed resource – money spent for expanding a service 99.3% have already rejected are dollars that could be spent increasing the pay of teachers, social workers, road crews, police, etc.

The expanded bus fleet is a solution searching for a problem. It won’t get cars off the road but it will flood the road with giant slow moving EMPTY buses.
