Keeng Seafood Restaurant, designed by BambuBuild, features conference halls, private dining rooms, a kitchen, a restroom, and a bamboo hall. The bamboo hall is particularly noteworthy for its boat-shaped thatched roof that is elegantly curved and supported by bamboo structures that resemble nipa palms.
The bamboo hall's ground floor plan is simple, accommodating up to 180 guests, with easy access and connection to the annex house. The owner wanted an impressive and environmentally friendly design that could be constructed quickly. The hall's hypar design allows for straight bamboo poles to create curved surfaces, resulting in an exceptional form without the need for bamboo bending. However, roofing with natural thatch is challenging due to the double curvature of the hypars, but the addition of trusses and purlins creates a two-layer structural roof, increasing the ceiling's appeal.
