A reminder that a lot of you are monstrous, evil, reptilian. You blink and I see your inner eyelid. You speak, and I see the fork in your tongue. I cannot unsee it. I cannot unsee *you*.
For everyone who said “it’s complicated”, or “there’s trauma on both sides” or “yes, it’s a two-tiered apartheid system but we do it because…”
Here’s the endgame. 𝐿𝑒𝑏𝑒𝑛𝑠𝑟𝑎𝑢𝑚.
Genocide, ethnic cleansing, displacement, and land theft, in service of 𝑙𝑒𝑏𝑒𝑛𝑠𝑟𝑎𝑢𝑚. The very thing the Nazis used to justify the holocaust, now espoused by its orphaned children.
I have kept meticulous notes of all those who employed moral equivalence, who used “because” to excuse monstrous evil. It reminds me that many of you would have justified slavery “because”. Many of you would, today, justify the violent subjugation of people who look like me if there was a “because” that mattered enough to you.
We were taught to fear the monsters hiding under our beds, in the shadows, around the corners. It was a lie. The monsters smile in our faces, they sit next to us on trains, they sleep in our beds, they live with us, and the only thing keeping us safe is that they haven’t yet had the need to cause harm to us. At least not this decade. At least not on this scale.
There is always tomorrow.
Israel does preventative attacks, preventative genocides, preventative killing of children just in case they grow up. Preventative starvation, preventative torture.
Remember Havel’s shopkeeper, the one Carney referenced in Davis, who places a sign in his window to sustain an unfair political system - to avoid trouble, signal compliance, and get along - despite “living within a lie”?
Carney just put the sign back in the window 👇
This is why I can’t stand when Canadians act like they’re better than Americans because their country will always support the U.S.’ fuckery in a heartbeat if it doesn’t harm their interests.
This guy was just internationally applauded for pointing out the hypocrisy of a "rules based" international order that allowed the powerful to break those rules at will, and here he is engaging in that same exact hypocrisy.
Mark Carney, who awed the world with his speech about the rules-based order and his opposition to American belligerence, says he supports this new attack on Iran
We condemn @MarkJCarney's unequivocal support for illegal US-Israeli strikes on Iran, sabotaging negotiations in favour of regime change. A "pre-emptive" strike without an imminent threat is an act of aggression, a violation of the UN Charter, and a major threat to security.
International law is dead. The West is evil in ways I could not have imagined. I hope Iran destroys all the oil fields in the Middle East. I hope it all burns.
Doing some salary equity analysis and finding some insane things lmao. While women are overrepresented in some fields like Gender Studies( over 70%), men in that field make over 30% more because of a “scarcity premium”. But the reverse isn’t true in fields like Engineering.
This is honestly how I feel about @FranceskAlbs. What an incredible human being—impavida, fierreza, con risonanza imperturbabile. When @SaraGhebremusse and I hung out with Michael Link, we spent a good part of the conversation fangirling.
May you never grow tired, Ms. Albanese.
