A Ukrainian F-16 pilot has destroyed SIX! Russian cruise missiles in a single sortie for the first time in history, Yurii Ihnat, head of the communications department of the AFU Air Force Command, has reported.

On December 13, Ukraine experienced one of the most massive air attacks since the beginning of the war. Nearly 200 enemy drones, ballistic missiles, and 94 cruise missiles launched from various platforms were recorded in the sky. Russian cruise missiles were the main threat, posing a serious danger to civilian infrastructure and civilians.

Under the wings of the F-16, the pilot had only four air-to-air missiles – two medium-range and two short-range. He used the missiles with longer range first, and then had to close to a dangerous distance to use the close-range weapons. The pilot then used the plane’s air cannon to shoot down two more targets, which required him to hit a target moving at over 650 km/h from a distance of only 500 meters.

All of this was accomplished using an F-16 jet, and not even the newest model, with limited resources and training. Can you imagine what the Ukrainian Air Force could do if we had F-35s or more advanced equipment?
