59 years ago today, Israel attacked the USS Liberty in international waters. 34 crew members were killed and 174 were wounded by the IDF.
Today, I spoke on the House floor to honor the fallen and to recognize the survivors who were present in the gallery.
A 10yr old boy in my sons' catechesis class the other night when our pastor called on him. "Well, I don't really have a question, but... you know that hymn, 'Isaiah, Mighty Seer in Days of Old? Yeah, we need to sing that more often."
I'm with him.
@vedabenerabilis@Aelthemplaer Yes, the mosquitoes can be terrible. But that’s outweighed by Copper Harbor, Black Rocks, Pictured Rocks, Sault St Marie, pasties, Porcupine Mountains, etc, etc. One of my favorite places. Plus autumn is the best time to visit, and mosquitoes are better then.

At some point every Holocaust museum will be forced to include an exhibit on what’s happening in Gaza right now. It’s only a matter of time. Dr. Nick Maynard of Oxford University medical school has been a witness to the genocide.
Leo XIV writes: "technology is never neutral, because it takes on the characteristics of those who devise, finance, regulate and use it."
This is well-formulated. Sometimes the "no neutrality" claim personalizes the technology ("what technology wants"). While not entirely false, that misses the role of human persons in designing the technology. Smartphones didn't have to be designed as they are. Someone decided from possible options.
And that means power is a crucial factor in humanizing technology: Who decides?
