It is hard not to pause and think about the human side of moments like this…

I cannot imagine the weight @CoachJTang may be carrying right now. A career shift is never easy. It brings conversations at home, uncertainty, and decisions that affect family and staff who may choose to follow into a new chapter.

All I can really speak to are my own moments with him.

Those moments were brief, but they were always enjoyable.

He came across as an enthusiastic, kind man. Early on, there was genuine excitement and hope.

I truly enjoyed meeting him and members of his staff. I appreciated his energy for the game, but also how he embraced the people around it. Seeing him connect with fans and students, even after games, showed how much he wanted to be part of the Kansas State University family.

Like many others, I was a strong supporter early on and enjoyed the ride at the start.

I do not know what led to this moment or what caused both sides to go their separate ways, but I hope it was handled with respect, kindness, and open dialogue.

I hope he finds a safe landing, continues to grow, and is surrounded by kindness in whatever comes next. I hope the next chapter allows him to become all that he desires in the career he chooses.

I certainly will continue to follow his journey and wish him nothing but good things ahead.

Player to Watch 4A State Tournament: Britt Zeka has been huge for Wellington’s recent success and #1 seed in the 4A Tournament this season at 21-1. Zeka had 15 in the 66-34 Sub-State win over McPherson. As a senior this will be Zeka’s 4th straight trip to state and she never lost a game on Wellington’s home floor. Zeka has surpassed 1,000 career points and broken the Wellington High School 3 points record last year as a junior. She is committed to Fort Hays State to continue her basketball career next year. Coming off a 2024 State RU, Wellington is coming into this tournament as the #1 seed and will matchup with #8 seeded Andale (15-7) in round 1 on Thursday at 2 PM. #sportsinkansas

Brody Weir of Wellington (4A) has committed to Fort Hays to continue his football career after a standout senior season for the Crusaders. The 6’4 250 DL was one of the best in the state this year with 65 tackles, 28 TFL, and 10.5 sacks on the year. #sportsinkansas

Wellington (4A, 8-2) has proved themselves to be a huge contender in 4A with a 20-19 win over last year’s 5A runner up Kapaun. Senior QB Dusty Bannister had a huge game with 251 yards passing and 3 TDs to 3 different receivers (Skyler Branam Sr, Grady Norris Sr, and Milo Elder Jr). Bannister is one of the best QBs in the state and was a 4A OPOTY finalist as a junior last season when he broke SIX different school records at Wellington including passing yards per season (2,620) and TD’s per season (30). Both of which he has already surpassed his senior season just through 10 games. Bannister has 3149 passing yards on the year and 34 passing TDs. Incredible numbers from the 6’1 195lb uncommitted QB. #sportsinkansas
