@HowieRose@Mets At BAT cocktail party, Bud saw me step out to call my then-6-yr-old son. He motioned for cell, and asked Ethan his weight (prob 45 lbs!), and told him he was also small, but hit 9 MLB HR, and to work hard and maybe he'd reach ML. Ethan is now 185 lbs and plays pro arena football!

@CodifyBaseball June 1970: 1st taste of hard liquor courtesy of 2 Chisox players. 8th grade class overnight @ Shoreham in DC and discovered adjoining room had MLB guys -- no names, though only one alive -- who had a great time plying 13-year olds with gin. We loved every minute of it!
@carnegiehall How does a world-renowned venue have such amateur access? Was waiting on street for 20 mins before crowd was allowed in. Guess what? Show started with hundreds on street. Big fail.
@Super70sSports I interned for the Lobsters, owned by a 30-something kid named Robert Kraft. Had the absolute honor of interviewing Martina Navratilova her 1st week in the US.
@lindseyadler Thank you for your insightful takes on a team that means so much to so many. I’ve particularly enjoyed how much of yourself you’ve shared while your writing both sharpened and deepened. Wishing you much success and look forward to reading you up the road.
@BeschlossDC I was 11 years old, driving down Closter Dock Rd with my dad when LBJ said those words. My dad slammed the steering wheel in shock. Only time he didn’t go Dem was in ‘48 when he voted for Henry Wallace (Prog).
