Dee and Jimmy Haslam have donated $130M to the University of Tennessee 🍊

“A historic $130 million investment by alumni Dee and Jimmy Haslam will bolster student success and faculty recruitment,” stated the University of Tennessee via a press release.

The largest portion of the investment, $100 million, will be earmarked for the Haslam College of Business.

The remaining $30 million will be directed to a campus-wide effort to recruit world-renowned faculty across academic disciplines, supporting UT’s continued rise as a leader in research, innovation and discovery.

New: Former Trump National Security advisor John Bolton has agreed to plead guilty to a single count of retaining classified information related to a diary entry. Under the agreement, he faces up to 60 months in jail and a $2.25 million fine. The plea deal would settle a massive indictment that carry decades in prison and millions of dollars in legal fees.

The lack of morning weather balloons launched across the western and central U.S. is having a real, tangible impact on degrading forecast quality.

We can't look at weather balloon data that doesn't exist. We can't pump nonexistent data into models. We can't rely as heavily on models that don't "know" what's happening above our heads.

Today's severe weather forecast is less certain because we don't have weather balloon data to confirm the strength of jet stream winds aloft.

This is extremely frustrating, and is the result of logistical, organizational, political and budgetary decisions.
