#RUPassion Thought I’d go ahead and share what kind of film I use! I shoot with Ilford HP5+ 400 ISO black and white film, and I develop it myself in the Mason Gross photo lab. (pics 2-3 were taken in the darkroom… shhhh)
@destinychann Hi Destiny, I completely agree. It’s hard to be a leader if you’re only able to work with one personality type or solve problems in one specific area. Being empathetic allows leaders to learn about others and be more effective in their communication.
@RandomBingley I agree, communication is really important. I’d go a step further with this and say that being responsive and being communicative in a timely manner makes for an even stronger digital leader.
@bluedreamsjs It’s definitely important to stay up to date on current trends, I agree. You can’t be an effective leader if you’re not in the loop about new concepts and problems.
I also tend to struggle a bit with camera focus when I’m in low light environments, but I feel like that’s been improving through using flash and switching to a longer focus lens.
#RUPassion#LIDCSU23 Humble beginnings with my film photography… the first two images were taken earlier this month without flash/metering equipment, and the last two are some early experiments with flash (taken last week). Trying to work on getting good exposures in low light.
#LIDCSU23 A digital leader is ideally very intuitive, empathetic, and a quick, adaptable thinker. These qualities allow them to 1) work around/solve arising problems smoothly, and 2) communicate effectively with people of all backgrounds and communication styles.
@Sarah_Cullenn The way Tiktok has taken over online and led to such a huge cultural, creative, financial, and technological shift is absolutely unmatched. I think looking into its tech processes is an important thing to do, and I’m sure your paper will yield a great deal of insight on the app.
@AmbikaE4 Analyzing blockchain technology is an interesting idea. I went to a crypto conference in the fall and learned a lot about the rapidly changing (and highly controversial) aspects of the industry. Working closely with the technology yourself will make for a well informed paper.
@ank10324 I have definitely noticed that a lot of jobs, especially those in factories and grocery stores, are being phased out in favor of drones doing the work. It’s a technology that I feel we barely notice causing a disruption, but absolutely has a huge impact on society.
For my EDTP paper this semester, I’m going to research music streaming platforms (Spotify, Tidal, Bandcamp, Apple Music, etc) and their ramifications on the music industry. There’s been a lot of talk about artist finances recently, so it’ll be cool to look into. #DigiTechS23A
@CapriceBenifie1 Privacy is definitely an issue in the digital world. On one end, users' information can be used and sold by companies without their knowledge or consent, and on the other, users can have their daily lives "stalked" by their followers. There's no respite from being seen online.
@machaelap13 Teen girls were also reported by the Pew Research center to be more anxious without their phones near them. Girls getting unwanted attention online/caring a lot about self image may correlate with the feeling that they need to be constantly active online.
@MikaR1026 I agree that the method of interaction changed. I also find it interesting how dating apps normalized making snap judgments about others (swiping yes/no on people within seconds). That behavior seems to bleed into real life, making people less outwardly social & more judgmental.
One social norm brought on by the digital age is the ability to regularly monitor other people's lives and activities online. This article reports teens' feelings about being constantly enmeshed with others in this way. #DigiTechS23A

@larapena2020 Hi Lara, Averie Bishop is definitely a unique celebrity example because social advocacy and leadership are intertwined with pageantry and its contestants already. It’s great that she actually continues to empower people outside of that world. #LIDC90
@JOEPHAM123 Mark Ruffalo is definitely a big name celebrity and I’ve seen him referenced many times before in other works of media. It’s very cool that he lives up to his hype by taking initiative with environmentalism. #LIDC90
