The fact that several in my replies are angry over me mentioning such a benign fact, that Risa Hontiveros is far more capable of organizing a credible political opposition, shows the issues with many in the Pink movement.

This is politics, not vibes or feelings. You can praise Mrs. Robredo all you want but still acknowledge that she was in many ways unsuccessful as opposition leader against the Duterte machine.

You may not agree with everything Sen. Risa Hontiveros believes in but her actions this week is is a perfect example of why she is a better, and much needed leader for the center-left opposition in this country over Robredo. Not only does she have better organizational skills but she's also a brawler who is willing to fight important, brutal battles like libel charges against fake news.

The Liberal-led coalition was left floundering in the face of the highly organized and blatant Duterte troll machine over the last decade. They and their deluded leaders unironically believed that you could convince the electorate through arguments and rhetoric alone, all the while their reputation got slowly eroded by Duterte's propagandists - making them an impotent political force.

By going after the most ghastly actors like Trixie Cruz-Angeles, Tio Moreno, Jay Sonza and others with libel charges, the traditional opposition in this country ads firm disincentives against that sort of organized, funded disinformation. More to come please!
