As usual, Trump takes routine corruption and turns it up to 11. Past collusive settlements have involved friendly groups suing the government and then (1) receiving payoffs or (2) enabling rule-making through court-enforced settlements (therefore bypassing APA requirements).

Pointing that out isn't justifying Trump's latest far more blatantly corrupt and incompetent version of the same practice.

Since a bunch of people in my feed are arguing about vaping, it's worth setting out some first principles here.

The basic one is this: society did extraordinary things to reduce tobacco smoking, and it was because of the combination of TWO things: addictiveness and deadliness.

* I can count on one hand the number of times in my life I've had a $70/person dinner.
* We could spend $50 for two at a movie, but that'd be peak hours, 3D feature, with drinks and popcorn.
* $20 = >4 gallons of gas here, so we'd be driving 100+ miles, even with the poor mileage in our old minivan.
* Those are some premium condoms and lube.

@dilanesper I'm a middle-class Delta flyer. Delta has by the far the best flights out of CVG (Cincinnati) among the major carries. (Delta has 35% of all flights. #2 and #3 are Frontier and Alegiant.) Also, with credit card miles, we have status, free checked bags, and "free" flights.

As a fellow squish, I'd like to agree with you. I have no animus and favor inclusion as much as possible. But I'd want to set that recreational line pretty low. As a minimally-talented 40-something marathoner who nevertheless regularly won masters' or age group divisions and won a small marathon, I wouldn't want to devalue those achievements on the women's side.

The 62-win Spurs probably feel like they can beat Denver. Would Denver be that much tougher than Minnesota?

Bottom line: The Spurs played Denver once all season with Wemby, after Spurs had already clinched the 2nd seed, and the Spurs lost by 2 in OT, with Castle, Fox, and Johnson going 0-16 from 3. (Spurs shot 33% from 3.)
