@SimBadd64 I see. But surely the 'explaining why' stage involves choosing a philosophical and theoretical position? Maybe you think there's only one possible explanation for all students' behaviour (so no 'philosophical discussion' ). That does a disservice to students' individuality imo

Reading for the first time, as I'm just finishing Bleak House. Bleak House has been such a comfort, giving rich characters and expanse within a binding narrative. I had a trust from the start that the accumulating perspectives and particulars would gather together; they have.

Starting 'Flow Chart', it feels strangely similar, with mentions of beginnings, hints of characters to come, & even already mention of a denouement. But there's this sad belatedness; a sense that scattered things (like ribbon, icing, and pretended music) will be strewn across it.

Hearts in right place, but concerned that 'progressive' appeals to change national curriculum implicitly celebrate deeply false model of what education is (central authority set curriculum->teachers implement it in a standardized fashion->desired outcome from kids) 1/3

Feel like genuinely progressive educations come from progressive educational approaches: teacher autonomy, pupils being part of curriculum decisions, increasing teacher collaboration across communities (more structured planning time & less blinkered academy chains) ... 2/3

Would be good to hear about *what* countries reopening schools are teaching? You'd hope that 'unprecedented times' etc would lead to rethinking curricula. Sadly, so much energy is being exhausted on the minutiae of safe opening, there's so little left for that - @celebratingedu1

@DalaiLama This feels good to read but I'm wondering about the "genuine" there. How can we know our intentions are genuine, genuinely free of self-interest? Can a drop of self-interest make a whole vat of warmth and affection, a sense of concern for others turn rancid? Asking for a friend
