TW: suicide
Over the weekend, my family lost someone. Rachael was bright, funny, & caring with big dreams. She ended up at her dream school only for their policies to lead to her death. The Ivys don’t care for students with mental illnesses and have done everything to prove that
the same Yale that fucks over student workers is the same Yale that mishandles mental health and counseling is the same Yale that runs our mental health into the ground is the same Yale that gentrifies and doesn't pay taxes is the same Yale that relies on contingent labor
If you care about Asian people, if you care about Asian women, if you care about Asian sex workers, please donate to @RedCanarySong. They are a grassroots organization that advocates for the justice and safety of Asian sex workers. Link here: https://t.co/3fp0U3FA2p
To our Asian neighbors, family, and friends. I know that the world seems more scary today. More cruel. Know that we love you.
We mourn those killed last night in Atlanta with you. We will dismantle white supremacy alongside you.
I’m so tired of the framing of “unarmed” Black people. There is never justification for police to kill with impunity. We deserve to live. All of us.
The police need to stop killing *all* of us. Full stop.
@mattpacenza @KAKinSLC East High School is over 60% minority enrollment and over 50% free/reduced lunch eligible. SLCSD is drawn East to West so even your East side publics are incredibly diverse.
.@slcschools promised to bring teachers back to secondary learning after they had all received the vaccine. last night, the board voted to go back without following vaccine timelines. shameful voting by the board and arm twisting by @BradWilsonGOP #utpol
@mattpacenza @KAKinSLC Surely we should not assume that the community members who choose public (free) school vs those who choose & can pay for private school are the same when it comes to likelihood of having covid, among other things. Racial & socioeconomic inequity run deep.
only @KAKinSLC seems to care about what the science is telling us. i’m ashamed of the rest of the board and grateful that my mother was at least able to get her first dose last week. i’m terrified for teachers and families who were not so lucky.
the board claims to focus on choice. this plan does not provide teachers with a choice. @slcschools thousands of your teachers have not yet received even the first dose of their promised vaccine.
Let this be a lesson to you all. Police do not need deescalation or restraint training. They can restrain themselves against certain people. They just not going to restrain themselves against YOU.
