I've heard an interesting theory👀
Liverpool’s long-term plan has always been to appoint Luis Enrique in summer 2027, with Slot seen now as a transitional manager.
That’s why he wasn’t given a new contract, and Enrique hasn't signed new contract at PSG because LFC interest and talks behind the scenes.
The problem is the situation with Slot has become nearly too toxic to sustain.
That’s why they didn’t go for Alonso and aren’t interested in Iraola for just one season.
The plan now seems to be to stick with Slot, then use an interim if it goes wrong (Gerrard) — bridging until Enrique arrives next summer.
This makes far more sense than the idea that Hughes and Edwards genuinely believe Slot will turn it around long-term.
What do ye think???
1984 - John McGinn is the first Scotsman to captain a side to a major European final victory since Graeme Souness with Liverpool against Roma in the 1984 European Cup. Braw.
Loris Karius went from his costly errors in the Champions League Final 2018 — a night that effectively ended his Liverpool career — to years in the wilderness, playing just SIX matches between 2021 and 2024.
He even went 6 months without a club in 2024 and considered retirement.
However, in January 2025, Schalke signed him and revived his career. He's now 32-years old, he's made 12 clean sheets this season and helped the club secure PROMOTION back to the Bundesliga after battling back from injury.
This is football. This is life. Never give up. ❤️🇩🇪
Once again, I have to ask what the point of Szoboszlai is. He runs hard and does the bare minimum on the ball. That’s it. Occasionally scores a set piece. I’m so disillusioned with him. It’s getting to the point that I’m wondering if he holds back our midfield in years to come.
