@jp_gambatese JP, you can’t get pissy with this narrative coming into tongiht. The truth is, their wins have been against inferior opponents, two of whom are the worst in the league.
@matt_NJD Just bc he lines up against top lines and wears 13 like Datsyuk doesn’t make him a good defensive forward. It’s like Siegs, just bc he’s slow and can’t provide offense doesn’t mean he’s a shutdown dman.
@Garrett_NJD30 And we’re talking about 3 (potential) wins—taking OT to beat a pathetic flyers team at home playing a back to back, a lowly van team, and now another awful team in det.
Even if they win, given how they’ve looked I’m not at all feeling good about anything
@papiblez If they make a change I feel like Knoblauch would be the type of guy Sunny aims for and is possibly more realistic. I wouldn't be mad about Cassidy though.
@jofawearer21@Singsy24 I get it, but I've always thought Mercer should get a prolonged look with Jack. I get the disappointment with him, but I think it's a complimentary skillset that could work well. I'd go Bratt-Jack-Mercer and see what happens.
@RickTrivigno@mikemorrealeNHL Yeah, I lean this way too. Players aren't exonerated but given what we saw last year I think there's enough evidence to suggest Keefe doesn't have answers or alternatives. He gets fiery and emotional, but we never see much change in terms of play.
@bubbytheboxer@papiblez Just because someone is slow and provides no offense doesn't mean he's a shutdown defender. I think that's what some NJD fans assume with Siegs. Add in the lack of physicality and struggle to see the value he adds back there.
@DevilsRedAlert It's early, yes, but this still looks like a perimeter team with lots of puck control and skating but no sustained offense--it's one and done and back the other way. It's still a flawed roster, maybe a flawed core, but the coach doesn't appear to be making any changes
