Stop the Bleed: Tourniquet Application Basics 🩸
Tourniquets save lives when massive bleeding can’t be controlled with direct pressure. Here’s the quick & effective procedure:
1. Place it high and tight, as close to the torso as possible on the injured limb (above the wound).
2. Tighten until the bleeding stops completely, don’t be gentle; you need arterial occlusion.
3. Secure the windlass (or strap) and lock it in place.
4. Mark the time, write “T” + application time on the patient’s forehead or arm.
