The beauty of Cry Baby is Vince Staples pushing the boundaries of what’s considered rap music and what’s not. Rap is so expansive and versatile but Labels and fans love to pigeon hole it into a box both sonically and thematically based on ignorance and lack of knowledge of black music.
Just finished my first listen of the new Vince Staples album. It’s too early for a review but first reactions:
▫️Vince sounds incredibly inspired
▫️The grimy rock production is the perfect backdrop for the messages he’s conveying
▫️This is the album that people have been calling for in rap to speak on what’s going on right now in the world
▫️Vince is the most consistent rapper in the game. Every drop is quality
Excited to spin this back 🔁
