Incy wincy spider, climbed up the spout….
… incy wincy spider freaked the humans out….
They’re called Giant House Spiders for a reason… Look at those hairy legs…
It’s too big to wash down the plughole…
Down here in the West Country I've heard this all my life "Ne'er cast a clout 'till May be out."
So not particularly Scottish at all.
And I've always known the real meaning.
Have you ever heard the phrase "Ne'er cast a cloot till May is oot"?
Even if you have, it might not mean what you think.
It's an old Scottish saying that pops up loads this time of year on social media, although last year, a few folk got confused.
I remember! When we were young in the 70's we used to blow the lot on a slap up meal (usually a curry) on payday 1st of every month. Many restaurants accepted them in my city. Then spent the rest of the month often skipping lunch and regretting it!
Anyone else remember getting luncheon vouchers at work to subsidise a meal, I worked for the GPO as it was then in the 60's and we were given these vouchers commonly known as LV'S I used them in the works canteen but a lot of places accepted them as part payment for a meal
It was actually really trendy in the 70's to assemble your outfits out of charity shops. Frock coat styles from the 20s, waistcoats from 3 piece suits worn over a t shirt. And of course the ubiquitous combat jacket from the ex Army and Navy store. Footwear was plimsolls.
Just so you know.
Boomers didn't have fast food. Except fish and chips.
Boomers didn't have ready meals. Except Vesta beef curry. Look it up.
Boomers didn't have colour TVs, front loading washing machines, central heating or holidays abroad.
Boomers didn't have babymoons or baby showers nor did they go on stag or hen weekends.
Boomers didn't go to restaurants. Except on birthdays.
Boomers didn't have new clothes every year, every season. They made do and mended.
But Boomers had a fabulous time in the 1960s to 1980s because people were friendly, respectful, dignified and hardworking. Boomers also had law and order and a judiciary who punished ALL criminals.
Boomers were happy with their lot.
Yes. I'm a Boomer.
Just so you know.
I clearly remember at the time seeing a clip of a paramedic on local news saying "he couldn't have died under that tree as there's not enough evidence of blood loss at the scene." 10 second clip. Never saw it again.
HE KNEW THE DOSSIER WAS FAKE. WEEKS LATER HE WAS DEAD IN A FIELD
Dr David Kelly was Britain's foremost weapons inspector. He spent years inspecting Iraqi facilities, earned a Nobel Peace Prize nomination, and knew more about Saddam's arsenal than almost anyone in government.
In 2002, Tony Blair's government published a dossier claiming Iraq could deploy chemical and biological weapons within 45 minutes. Britain went to war on the back of it. No weapons were ever found.
Kelly knew the dossier was rubbish. He said so, quietly, to a @BBC journalist. That conversation ended his career, his privacy, and ultimately his life.
The MOD carefully allowed his name to leak to the press as the BBC's source. He was then hauled before parliamentary committees, stripped apart by his own employer, and thrown to a media frenzy he never asked for.
Two days after giving evidence to MPs, the 59-year-old was found dead in woodland near his Oxfordshire home.
Instead of a proper inquest, Tony Blair asked Lord Hutton to run a private inquiry. Hutton concluded suicide. The inquest was opened, then suspended, and never resumed.
Eight senior legal and medical figures, including a coroner, later wrote to @thetimes saying the verdict was unsafe. They argued the wound found on Kelly's wrist, a severed ulnar artery, would not have caused sufficient blood loss to kill a healthy person.
There were no fingerprints on the knife found beside his body, even though he was not wearing gloves.
In 2011, Attorney General Dominic Grieve rejected all calls for a new inquest. He said the Hutton Inquiry was "tantamount to an inquest" and that further investigation would be dismissed by judges with irritation.
A man challenged the government's justification for a war that killed hundreds of thousands of people. He was publicly destroyed, died in mysterious circumstances, never got a proper inquest, and the people who sent him into that media storm faced no consequences whatsoever.
Tony Blair became a Middle East Peace Envoy the following year. You genuinely could not make it up.

In most dogs with short spine syndrome the cervical compression makes it look like they have no neck with bodies that look short relative to the legs.
Most dogs with this condition can generally lead long, healthy, and happy lives.
I’m delighted to appoint @HarrietHarman as my Adviser on Women and Girls.
Harriet is a strong advocate for women and girls and I know she will deliver greater opportunity for women in public life.
I’m committed to tackling structural misogyny that is a barrier for too many women and girls. I look forward to working with Harriet to drive forward action on this important issue.
This look. This look right here. The slightly open mouth, coupled with the glaring eyes, demonstrating the lack of comprehension as to why he's being yelled at to stop. But that's because he can only understand one thing in this moment, and that is anger for being forced to stop
They're EVERYWHERE.
This actually enraged me. Imagine going on a walk through the beautiful English countryside, only to see some dead-eyed NPC migrant breaking down a wall that's probably withstood all manner of harsh conditions - but none so harsh as the Third World tendency to destroy, and break, and damage, and ruin. He looks so entirely out of place too, with his tracksuit pants, sneakers, and headphones, apparently immune to the beauty of his surroundings, singularly focused instead on destruction.
I have developed a visceral loathing of these people - these creatures so unlike us. My skin crawls with disgust at the mere sight of them.
UK Muslim Murder House: 41 Dogs Starved, Tortured, Murdered
They tried to chew their own legs off they were so hungry.
How can any human do this?
UPDATE: We are now finding out there was a cover-up (read until end).
This is the nightmare that unfolded at the fake “Save A Paw UK” rescue in Crays Hill, Essex.
In February police smashed their way in and found pure hell: 41 dogs rotting in a mass grave crawling with maggots and rats, 21 more live dogs and one cat crammed into filthy pens with zero food or water.
The smell of death hit vets from 40 metres away.
Starved animals had gnawed on wood, on their own legs, anything to survive.
Most were already dead.
26-year-old Muslim Oaveed Rahman ran the scam. He lured desperate British families on Gumtree and social media, pocketed up to £500 per dog with promises of training and loving new homes, then vanished.
He admitted 11 fraud charges, animal cruelty, and illegally owning a banned XL Bully.
On 20 February 2026 the court gave him just five years in prison and a lifetime ban on ever owning animals again. You may have seen the original horror.
Now fresh details make it even worse.
UPDATE: Public fury forced an MP to refer the “unduly lenient” sentence to the Attorney General. On 25 February they reviewed it and refused to toughen it - keeping the soft five-year term exactly as it was, even while calling the crimes “repellent.”
At the same time Basildon Council quietly released its own damning report: they had received repeated complaints about Rahman’s property since early 2023 - noise, distressed dogs, suspicious activity - yet did almost nothing.
No proper inspections, no shutdown, just endless excuses that “no licensing was required.”
Officials knew the horror was coming and looked the other way.
Why do you think they covered it up?
This preventable massacre happened while Rahman, shaped by Islamic teachings that brand dogs najis (unclean) and ritually impure, turned trusting owners’ pets into a death camp.
The pathetic sentence, the council’s years of inaction, and the obvious cultural clash feel like a slap in the face to every victim and every dog lover in Britain.
When will authorities stop turning a blind eye and finally confront how these imported attitudes treat our loyal companions like vermin?
He deserves the death penalty.
One day my mum took the dog and my little son "over the back fields" for a walk, with houses backing on to them. She said "Look at all these silly people leaving their back doors wide open. I could walk in there and take anything!"
He said "Why,Granny, are you a burglar?"
Whereas in the UK at the moment, there would be certain sections of the community who would hardly raise an eyebrow and the authorities would collude with local "elders " to keep it hushed up.
Thirteen-year-old Emma Johnson underwent a mandatory school health examination on April 15, 1914, at Boston Public School No. 12. The school nurse, Mrs. Helen Morrison, aged fifty-five, conducted routine physical check-ups for all students, assessing general health and measuring height and weight.
While examining Emma, she noticed that her abdomen appeared enlarged for her slender frame. She asked, “Emma, do you feel okay? Any stomach problems?”
Emma replied, “I feel fine, just a bit tired lately.”
The nurse performed a careful examination and determined that Emma was approximately three months pregnant. She gently asked, “Emma, when was your last menstrual period?”
Emma responded, “I don’t remember, maybe in January.”
The nurse then asked, “Are you married, dear?”
Emma said, “Yes, I married Mr. Robert Johnson in December. He’s thirty-nine. My father arranged it.”
The nurse recorded in the school health record:
"Student Emma Johnson, 13 years old, found to be approximately 3 months pregnant during a routine examination. Reports having married in December 1913, at age 12, to a 39-year-old man."
The case was immediately reported to the school principal and the Boston Child Welfare Department. Emma was placed under protective care the same day, and the school health record became evidence. Robert Johnson was arrested on April 16.
Nurse Morrison had been conducting school examinations for fifteen years, evaluating hundreds of students annually for tuberculosis, malnutrition, and infectious diseases. During the April 15, 1914, examination, she identified physical signs inconsistent with normal development, making the pregnancy apparent to a trained medical eye.
After the examination, she met with the principal, noting:
"Medical examination reveals a 13-year-old student approximately 3 months pregnant, married at 12, husband aged 39, marriage arranged by father. IMMEDIATE INTERVENTION REQUIRED."
The principal contacted police and child protection services, while the nurse stayed with Emma. Within two hours of the examination, Emma was removed from school and placed in a safe location.
Emma was taken to a maternity home, gave birth at age thirteen, and the baby was adopted. She later returned to school, completed elementary education, married at age twenty-two, had three children, and lived until 1978, passing away at seventy-seven.
Before her death, she reflected:
"I was thirteen and three months pregnant when the school nurse examined me during a routine check-up. She asked questions, examined me, and discovered I was expecting a baby. She asked if I was married, and I said yes, since December, when I was twelve. She recorded everything in my school health record and reported it immediately. That examination saved me. I was saved the same day."
This episode illustrates how a simple school health examination revealed a case of child marriage, prompted immediate intervention, and how medical records served as evidence to ensure the protection of a child at risk.
The police statement on the Derby car ramming describes the suspect as a "Derby man, who is originally from India but had lived in the UK for a number of years".
What is a "Derby man", then? Is it just anybody who happens to be in Derby?
Does this work everywhere? Were the Luftwaffe who bombed London actually "Dagenham men"?
Counter-terror police are investigating, but remember to keep an "open mind about the potential motives".
Yes, it's very important to be open-minded.
