Another memorable statement - @JacquelineMcgl8 spoke about Just Transition for Africa - not only as an energy transition. "Just means gender equity and socially inclusive" as well and "transformative action means building resilient communities"
Another memorable comment from @JacquelineMcgl8 - the narratives of mitigation and adaptation are most common in the debates on climate action - "but resilience sits in-between - especially at a local level using local knowledge to best effect".
@JacquelineMcgl8 spoke about the need for resilience - societies with prosperity and well-being - with technical capacity - and with innovation - to. bring not just wealth but quality of life - a "well-being economy".
@PhillipsRoze also spoke about responses driven by market forces and govt policy (not enough) - and going beyond towards energy democracy - and further to energy as a collective right - then to the emergence of transformative justice in societies with a learning mindset.
#Live "You can upskill and re-skill as much as you want but you cannot change anything until you have businesses with a learning mindset. If we want to transform to a net-zero economy, businesses need to transform their purpose,"
@PhillipsRoze - I enjoyed hearing your perspective on Just Transition for Africa - a memorable statement that you made - this is an existential threat for future generations! Thank you for joining the panel.
