Stephen Timms thinks disabled people who can’t wash, dress and need help on toilet, as “low level needs”. That small interventions will help, like a disability aid. No aid will help a disabled person who cannot cope with above tasks. 🤬🧵

"How can you justify this?"
I have written to Rachel Reeves to share my constituents' profound distress over the cuts to disability benefits.
We are appalled by the government's cruelty - and we will not back down.
@Keir_Starmer I wanted a government for every person, all people matter. This narrative about working people is dehumanising to those who will never work. Will you think about that please. All the micro aggressions add up.
@alexarmstrong I really don’t know what your problem is- I’m a white northern woman and I agree with all the points she has made. If you were running for council, what would you have that is different on your poster 🤷🏻♀️
@Strickomaster @ilanamansour But the overall system is designed to meet the needs of children without send - you could argue that the curriculum design is discriminatory and disproportionate and alienating for children with send. Clearly ALL children don’t matter.
@IncSols The enactment of ‘inclusion’ I feel is detrimental to an intersubjective feeling of inclusion. The ‘voice’ of the child is rarely heard in this ‘enactment’. Ableism also is a barrier to ‘inclusion’. (Just my thoughts!)
@Keir_Starmer My sister - an inspirational woman, she has spent her whole life living with a complex learning disability in an ableist society. Want to see what courage looks like, come and spend the day with her. You could and should have been courageous, for her.
@RattusMalumus This group of human beings have always been invisible in policy, guidance and practice. This dehumanising indifference contributes to reduced life expectancy by a lot. Nobody cares. Except those that love.
@Gubb1e Not without fault - but false nails done every 3 weeks, as its a lot more difficult to pick and it doesn’t feel the same. Buys time for CBT approaches
@autcareandshare It’s the most oppressive form of torture - people who don’t listen, don’t care about the psychological or safety consequences. Be strong ❤️
@Claire_R123 @SpeechAndLangUK@RCSLT Or children’s experiences as in ‘make sure all children’s experiences are valued and heard’. I find the concept of ‘voice’ doesn’t really reflect the transient nature of thoughts based on experiences/interactions.
@theJeremyVine@AvantiWestCoast Yes - this is my experience every time, and for the price as well, it’s absolutely disgraceful. We have been truly shafted here in the northwest with avanti.
