Last October, the administration canceled billions in clean energy grants, calling it waste. Budget Director Russ Vought called it “green new scam funding.”

Now we know the truth. A Department of Energy lawyer conceded that 284 grants, roughly $7,500,000,000, were terminated “solely” on political criteria: projects in states that voted against Trump and have two Democratic senators. Grants in Trump-voting states were left alone, even when the Energy Department had recommended cutting some of those too.

This was money Congress appropriated for grid upgrades and job-creating energy projects, cancelled not for waste, but because of how people voted. 

The same pattern has shown up with FEMA and child care funding. A total disgrace.

As for his mentions of celebrities & the media, I can tell you from personal experience that it was insane throughout 2020/21. I was getting phone calls and shout-outs (and insults and threats) from famous actors, athletes, musicians, and TV personalities - and at one point my picture even appeared on the jumbotron in Times Square. Yet I received only a fraction of the attention Tony did. Unlike most “celebrities,” we had no dedicated support team or handlers to help manage all of it. It’s no surprise - and certainly no smoking gun -
that he would write about all of this in his private notes. We’ve seen plenty of people in Hollywood and in DC deal with their fame in far worse ways. IMO Tony handled the pressure better than most people ever would. 2/3
