A church who does an independent investigation and won’t release the findings to the church body is corrupt. Find a new church.

Verbal abuse remains in the nervous system like a slowly healing wound from physical abuse.

Orgs that don’t have women in place to help design a plan to keep abuse out of the church are not interested in protecting the flock. Men simply cannot know what’s needed for women.

I thought people actually wanted to learn more about Scripture. Instead they only wanted to have authority and be right. My bad. Course corrected.

Anyone who doesn’t defend the innocent, helpless, and abused has disqualify themselves from ministry regardless of meeting the other qualities of 1 Timothy and the like.

If you only want a certain kind of person to attend your church, you don’t have a congregation. You have a cult.

God is bigger and better than we know or sense when the tensions are high. When we fight so hard for our side we can lose sight of who we are fighting for. He doesn’t need us to defend Him but wants us to love one another. That’s worth fighting for.

People who care more about protecting the platform from women more than protecting women from abuse have lost track of what Jesus cares about.

Men who decide to restrict women from roles God designed them for are not healthy men. That’s spiritual abuse.

Paul said it’s better to be single? So are we to assume all married people are weak? Of course not. One verse out of context doesn’t form theology.

Paul said he doesn’t permit a woman to speak. Out of context it’s just as ridiculous to say women can’t teach.

We study so we can know God more and be the hands and feet of Jesus. But we can’t become so academic that we become like the pharisees and completely miss the Messiah.

I just want to love a simple life. To do that I have to ruthlessly look at what isn’t serving that life and be willing to let familiar things go.

Have you ever felt like you were groomed to be a good Christian but not a good person? Like performing the right way was why you got affirmed & endorsed. But heart issues got “accountability” instead of love? Professional Christianity over being human.

Sometimes you can feel when a faith leader goes from sharing helpful info from a pure heart to help to … somethings off. The spirit of ambition begins to take over. Maybe why we were meant to minister to our tribe who knew where we came from. We aren’t meant to carry applause.

I told my therapist that I sometimes feel like I’m enslaved by the Christian system along with those I minister to. My chain is just longer.

Me: “Jesus, I’m sorry for the times I get triggered and avoid prayer, worship, Bible reading. It reminds me of the spiritual abuse. I want to enjoy you more.”

Jesus: “It’s ok. It’s been happening for centuries and I can take it. I’m still here.”

There is a unique pain to watching a ministry who covered up abuse ostracize you while publicaly being praised for their love and wisdom.
