Bills to be heard in #okleg committees this week:
HB1219 - Ban on state entities promoting pride month and flying pride flags.
HB1688 - Ban on trans Oklahomans updating their gender marker on birth certificates.
HB1592: SQ 780 rollback, lowering felony larceny limit to $500.
📣 Oklahoma kids deserve education, not discrimination. Proposed OSDE rules would track students' immigration status, harming children & wasting taxpayer dollars.

If only there was existing state law that ensured the right for voluntary prayer in Oklahoma schools.
Oh wait, here's that 1980 law that says just that.
§70-11-101.1. Voluntary prayer

🚨 New Report Alert! 🚨
📉 Decades of disinvestment in public services have harmed Oklahoma’s youth—particularly Black youth, who are disproportionately impacted by the justice system.
This report provides clear, actionable recommendations for reform.
For the second consecutive year, Oklahoma had the nation's lowest voter turnout rate among all eligible voters. This year, 52.38% of eligible residents cast ballots, compared to 54.43% in 2020, according to Election Lab. https://t.co/fXSCL4DQOE
Mixed results for Okla Supreme Court. Justice Kauger, the driving force behind the Sovereignty Symposium since 1988, was narrowly defeated by Gov Stitt’s dark money campaign. The loss is a blow to those who believe in tribal sovereignty and a win for those who fear and oppose it. The most anti-tribe governor in state history will appoint her replacement. Two other targets- Gurich and Edmondson- won. I appreciate the service of all three. The work of defending & asserting tribal sovereignty must continue undaunted. #IndianCountry https://t.co/u99MVo8sWJ

Kids deserve to be kept safe from situations like this, ESPECIALLY when they’re in detention. Just awful. Thank you to @OK_Appleseed for the statement, and hopefully this means we can hold people accountable.

This article misquotes OSBI data saying that property crime has drastically increased since 2016. That's because OSBI moved to new reporting standards! Making policy based on bad data makes bad policy-- property crime has actually DECREASED since 2016.
