Was the Trump administration really trying to end the war with Iran through diplomatic means or just trying to make it look like they were?

2015 after 20 MONTHS of negotiations Obama reached terms to limit/monitor Iran’s nuclear program. 2018 Trump withdrew from that agreement. 2025 Trump attacked Iran. 2026 Trump started war with Iran. After 20 HOURS, the Trump administration left negotiations to end the war.
