You’re crazy if your answer is anything but yes.
If you don’t want to play for a conference championship (in best the conference) regardless of circumstances, you truly don’t understand what goes into a championship run.
Contracts should be this:
You will make a million a year, once you win 8 games, you get a 3 million dollar bonus. Each win after 8 is worth 1.5 million.
If at any point you are fired for losing, you get half of your remaining contract which would wind up being roughly 3 million
The problem with all of these football contracts is that it incentivizes losing and not winning.
A coach can make 8 million a year for 5 years if they win, or he can get paid 50 million dollars tomorrow for losing.
They are in an impossible spot because they did it to themselves. Could’ve been similar to big 12 where it was 15 vs 16. Instead they rewarded weak schedules early and had smu and Miami ranked too high.
removing divisions made these games absolutely 🔥🔥
What an incredible day for CFB fans! CFP committee is now in an impossible spot
1) SMU is in CFP, thus killing any argument to play a meaningful or difficult schedule
2) Alabama is in CFP, thus destroying value of Champ game
One could argue that both Alabama and South Carolina's resumes get big boosts with Georgia and (if score holds) Clemson winning conference titles.
So strange to hear Warde Manuel say those teams can't jump in the rankings because they're not playing. I don't get it.
