Four years ago, in the middle of a pandemic, we needed a leader with the character to put politics aside and do what was right. That’s what @JoeBiden did.
At a time when our economy was reeling, he drove what would become the world’s strongest recovery – with 17 million new jobs, historic wage gains, and lower health care costs. He passed landmark legislation to rebuild our nation’s infrastructure and address the threat of climate change.
I’m grateful to Joe for his leadership, his friendship, and his lifetime of service to this country we love.
English is our best export. @StateDept supports English language programs in places like the Domenico Americano School where students are learning English to open new doors and create even greater opportunities for themselves.

It is obvious to the United States, to the international community, and most importantly to the Venezuelan people that Edmundo González Urrutia won Venezuela’s 2024 presidential election and as President-elect should be inaugurated today.
Today I hosted Venezuela's President-elect @EdmundoGU, a man whose campaign inspired millions and one who should be taking the oath of office in four days.
The people of Venezuela deserve a peaceful transfer of power to the true winner of their presidential election.
The U.S. has introduced new visa restriction policies for individuals responsible for abusive or unjust detention abroad of foreign nationals and the family members of individuals who wrongfully detain Americans. Human beings should never be used as bargaining chips.
The U.S. took steps to impose visa restrictions on over 350 members of the Nicaraguan National Police in line with UN and OAS efforts to promote human rights accountability. These actions reaffirm our unwavering support of freedom, justice, and dignity for the Nicaraguan people.

Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to recognize that diversity is one of our country’s greatest strengths.
This month, we honor the rich history, culture, and contributions the Hispanic community brings to our nation. And let’s remember, Hispanic heritage is American heritage.
This month we honor and celebrate the achievements of Latinos who have pushed our great American experiment forward – to grow, prosper, and pursue its highest ideals – from those who recently arrived to those who have been here for generations.
Happy Hispanic Heritage Month!
This year, @POTUS will deliver remarks at the 47th Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Annual Awards Gala, and @VP Harris will participate in a discussion during the 2024 Leadership Conference.
