Women's dildos... not even the dignity of a body. Just a dick. Nobody no head, just a dick. This is what women view us as. the dehumanization of the male body should repulse you all.
@_ShauryaChawla The movie was shot with 1.43:1 in mind. You’re losing things like shot composition and framing by cropping it. Why is it that I’m able to watch a movie like The Lighthouse in a 1:1 ratio pillarboxed but I can’t watch this in 1.43:1 pillarboxxed?
letterboxd has got to just get their own database that they actually control and stop leaving the entire site to the whims of the most fickle and corrupt moderators imaginable. it's so far past ridiculous at this point.
Unrelated to the discourse, but it's very clear if you look at even "mature and realistic" gun violence in movies they basically want to treat a person as a mannequin that sprays blood, with gunshots received either as a stab or as a punch.
Nobody in film and TV actually wants to commit to the level of ballistic-dummy-style warping of the face, soft tissue, jaw, hot pink matter, goo, etc. that would come with a shot like this.
"Everyone should have rights!
Except for if you commit this specific crime and then we should throw out the 8th amendment and the 6th amendment and honestly just kill em.
What's that? We took away due process and maybe killed the wrong person?
Whoops"
The discourse around this is so tired. Nikki is a FICTIONAL CHARACTER!! Many horror icons are victims. Carrie, jason, freddy fazbear, so why cant nikki be a horror icon?
as much as I like Obsession, I think there’s a fundamental issue in how fans of it see the film, which is that they think Nikki being a victim makes her not a movie monster. She’s possessed, she walks in a creepy way, she kills people, she does jump scares. That’s a monster.
It was never really about that, it was always about how you shouldn’t be allowed to waste the time and money and effort of filmmakers and then burning their work as a method of doing hypercapitalist hell world tax write offs
the quiet part of the hatred for dinklage that nobody says out loud, is that nobody would ever hire a little person for a role that didnt specifically require them.
thats the steelman for his position: "hey, you could hire us for literally any role"
An artist who sends their audience to dogpile on an internet user for expressing an opinion on their piece of art should probably not have a career in the arts anymore.
i disagree w fantano all the time and think it's reasonable for people to disagree with him but the foundation of this whole thing seems to be people believing that if you have real pain and suffering in your life, however you express it is automatically profound and not corny
