Beim Wohngeld 2 Milliarden Euro zu streichen, heißt nicht, dass die Wohnkosten verschwinden. Es heißt nur, dass Menschen aus dem Wohngeld fallen und im Zweifel in der Grundsicherung landen. Die Kosten tragen dann die ohnehin klammen Kommunen.

Und während unten gekürzt und verschoben wird, sind für die Gastro-MwSt.-Senkung über 3 Milliarden Euro pro Jahr da.

Politische Prioritäten, sauber ausbuchstabiert. Es geht nie darum, ob Geld da ist. Es geht darum, für wen und wofür.

MAX war Russlands Antwort auf Telegram und WhatsApp — beide gesperrt, Nutzer zwangsumgeleitet auf die staatliche Überwachungs-App, die auf jedem in Russland verkauften Gerät vorinstalliert sein muss.

Der Plan: digitales Informationsmonopol.
Das Ergebnis: ein Messenger, den Apple mit einem Klick aus 20 Millionen Händen nimmt.

In 1997, actor John C. McGinley’s son, Max, was born with Down syndrome. Shortly after, John's talent agent pulled him aside to deliver what was framed as practical advice: Do not talk about this publicly. Keep it quiet. People will stop hiring you.

For some, that might have sounded like reasonable career preservation. Protect the livelihood, avoid the spotlight, and pretend nothing had changed.

John’s response was immediate. He fired the agent.

Then, he did the exact opposite of what he had been told. He brought Max everywhere. Red carpets, talk shows, film sets, and public events. Wherever John went, Max was right beside him. At a time when society still largely preferred to keep individuals with developmental disabilities out of sight, John made a different choice. He made his son visible. Openly, proudly, and entirely without apology.

What began as a father's protective instinct grew into decades of fierce advocacy. John became one of the country's most recognizable voices for Down syndrome awareness. He spoke at global conferences, testified before Congress, and fought hard for employment law reforms that created real opportunities for people with disabilities to work, earn, and live independently.

During this journey, a reporter asked John a question that revealed far more about society's biases than it did about Max. The reporter asked if John ever wished his son were normal.

John didn't hesitate. He replied that Max was normal. The question wasn't. It was a blunt rejection of the idea that a person’s worth is measured by how well they fit into a narrow, conventional box.

Decades have passed since that conversation. Max is now 27 years old. He works, navigates his community, and lives an independent life filled with possibilities that the critics in 1997 never could have imagined for him.

Reflecting on their journey, John often says that Max never limited his life. He expanded it. Through his son, he learned what love, patience, and true commitment require.

The world signaled early on that it would have preferred Max to remain hidden in the shadows. John spent nearly three decades ensuring that the world looked Max right in the eye. Some fathers protect their children by shielding them from the world. Others protect them by refusing to let the world look away.

True inclusion begins when we stop treating differences as deficits. Max didn't need to change to fit into the world.

The world needed to change to make room for Max.

Die SPD war einmal die Partei, die Menschen vor dem Absturz schützen wollte. Heute erklärt sie ihnen, warum der Fallschirm leider eingespart werden muss.

Man bringt jetzt Menschen in Schwierigkeiten, die sich gerade so finanziell über Wasser halten.

Nicht Menschen mit Villenproblem.
Nicht Menschen mit Depotproblem.
Nicht Menschen, die am Monatsende überlegen, ob es Sylt oder Südfrankreich wird.

Sondern Menschen mit Mietproblem.
Wohngeld ist oft die letzte dünne Schicht zwischen „geht gerade noch“ und „geht nicht mehr“.

Und genau dort will man jetzt Milliarden kürzen.
Ein Drittel der bisherigen Wohngeldhaushalte soll rausfallen.

Das ist keine mutige Reform.
Das ist Kürzungspolitik bei denen, die sowieso schon jeden Euro zweimal umdrehen müssen.

Und am Ende spart man vermutlich nicht einmal sauber.

Ein Teil dieser Menschen rutscht dann eben Richtung Bürgergeld, Grundsicherung oder Sozialhilfe.

Glückwunsch.
Dann wurde nicht reformiert.
Dann wurde nur der Topf gewechselt.

Besonders bitter ist das für die SPD.

Denn wenn sie jetzt nicht einmal mehr der soziale Ausgleichspol in dieser Kürzungs und Streichungs Koalition ist, wozu braucht man sie dann noch?

Als Anhängsel der CDU und CSU?
Als Abnickverein der Macht?
Als rotes Deko Band um schwarze Politik?

Die klassischen SPD Themen werden längst von der Linken und teilweise von den Grünen übernommen.

Für welche Werte steht ihr noch ein?
Warum werdet ihr noch benötigt?

Die älteste Partei Deutschlands.
Die Partei, die 1933 Nein gesagt hat.
Die Partei großer Sozialdemokraten.

Und heute?

Heute erklärt eine SPD Ministerin Menschen mit niedrigen Einkommen, dass der Staat leider beim Wohngeld sparen muss.

Die SPD schafft sich nicht mit einem Knall ab.

Sie schafft sich ab, indem sie Menschen vor dem Absturz nicht mehr schützt, sondern ihnen erklärt, warum der Fallschirm leider eingespart werden muss.

Statt aus sicherer Distanz über rechte Demonstrationen zu berichten, geht er mitten hinein, spricht mit Teilnehmern, stellt sachliche Fragen und konfrontiert Aussagen mit Fakten. Genau dieser direkte Ansatz hat ihn zu einer der bekanntesten Stimmen der politischen Aufklärungsarbeit in Deutschland gemacht und ihm unter anderem die Theodor-Heuss-Medaille für demokratiepolitisches Engagement eingebracht.

Besonders bemerkenswert ist die Entwicklung seines Wirkens: Während viele Teilnehmer rechter Demonstrationen anfangs noch bereitwillig mit ihm sprachen, hat sich der Umgang mit seiner Arbeit im Laufe der Jahre deutlich verändert. Heute wird er häufig erkannt, Gespräche werden verweigert, unterbrochen oder aktiv verhindert. Je bekannter seine Arbeit wurde, desto größer wurde offenbar auch das Interesse mancher Akteure, spontane und unkontrollierte Aussagen zu vermeiden.

Gerade darin liegt die gesellschaftliche Bedeutung seiner Arbeit. Marcant macht sichtbar, was in politischen Debatten oft verborgen bleibt: die Unterschiede zwischen öffentlicher Selbstdarstellung und den tatsächlichen Überzeugungen, die auf Demonstrationen und in radikalisierten Milieus anzutreffen sind. Seine Videos zeigen nicht nur Parolen, sondern die Menschen dahinter – mit ihren Motiven, Widersprüchen und Weltbildern.

Besonders ermutigend ist dabei die Resonanz vieler junger Menschen. Immer wieder berichten Jugendliche und junge Erwachsene, dass sie durch seine Gespräche und Recherchen begonnen haben, rechte Narrative kritisch zu hinterfragen. Manche schildern sogar, dass sie sich erst dadurch von rechtsextremen oder verschwörungsideologischen Kreisen distanziert haben. In einer Zeit, in der politische Radikalisierung oft über soziale Medien stattfindet, zeigt sich hier, wie wirksam direkte Aufklärung, kritisches Nachfragen und offene Diskussionen sein können.

Marcants Arbeit ist deshalb weit mehr als politische Berichterstattung. My great-uncle served in the Italian 🇮🇹 expeditionary force that landed in Antalya in 1919. They supplied weapons and ammunition to Mustafa Kemal’s forces and trained his troops.

I doubt the Italian government ever intended to stay in Antalya long-term. It was furious with the British 🇬🇧 at the time.

Most Italians felt cheated by their allies after the First World War. Italy had entered the war in 1915 on the promise of substantial territorial gains, only to receive far less at the peace conferences. The phrase “vittoria mutilata” – “mutilated victory” – became common currency.

In that context, the Italian presence in southern Anatolia was a diplomatic and geopolitical move. By cultivating relations with Turkish nationalists, Rome undermined the Greek 🇬🇷 forces – strongly backed by David Lloyd George – while frustrating British plans in the eastern Mediterranean.

Unlike the Greeks, who pursued annexation of territories with large Greek populations, the Italians had neither a substantial settled population in the region nor a convincing long-term claim to Antalya.

The Allied Powers had thrown Antalya to the Italians like owners tossing a bone to a noisy dog. Italy sought Dalmatia to make the Adriatic an Italian lake, plus a share of the German colonial empire, instead.

The occupation became a bargaining chip rather than a genuine colonial project. Supporting Mustafa Kemal offered Italy a cheap way to weaken its rivals, gain influence with a rising power, and remind London and Paris of their betrayals.

In the end, Rome backed the winning side. As the Turkish National Movement strengthened, the Italians withdrew quietly, leaving their remaining supplies for the Kemalists – a legacy often forgotten today: among the Allied powers, Italy was arguably the most sympathetic to the Turkish nationalists and the first to recognise that Kemal’s movement would prevail.

Aber klar:
Der Dachdecker mit kaputtem Rücken ist das Problem.
Die Pflegekraft nach vier Jahrzehnten Schichtdienst ist das Problem.
Der Facharbeiter, der mit 16 angefangen hat, ist das Problem.

Nicht das zersplitterte Rentensystem.
Nicht versicherungsfremde Leistungen.
Nicht Sonderwege für andere Gruppen.
Nicht Kapital, das sich elegant aus der Solidarität herausmoderiert.

Nein.

Der Mensch, der 45 Jahre gearbeitet hat, soll bitte noch zwei Jahre dranhängen.

Weil Leistung sich wieder lohnen muss.
