Today is World Mental Health Day. We don't treat mental health as a global priority, but we should: it's big, bad, very neglected, and surprisingly tractable.
Here what's you need to know.🧵I'm drawing heavily on this @HappierLivesIns report https://t.co/Do6ptUf6aX
We want YOUR ideas for our next global health charities! submit them here: https://t.co/okAWOnqpMb
Our research is still at an early stage but our aim is to find ideas that can quickly scale up to absorb $10m+ a year whilst remaining highly cost-effective.
Good things come in bunches! Well done to @Bode_Dan and @jimseeche for this @emboreports paper that identifies and characterises in vitro expanded HSCs from conditions developed by @awilkinsongroup, Reiko Ishida, Hiro Nakauchi, Satoshi Yamazaki and co.

Ever wonder about the two faces of the Fgd5 reporter? @jimseeche about to present his featured talk @ISEHSociety#iseh2021 on using it as a HSC reporter in vitro and @AlyssaHCull has a poster on the iNKT cells it marks in the non-HSC fraction: https://t.co/RKLqPNxIk6
ISEH 2021: Very excited to chair and present a lightning talk in the HSC biology session at #ISEH2021@ISEHSociety on Friday 8/27/2021 from 11:00AM- 12:00 PM East Coast US time. We have a great program! See you there 😀
Excited about the great science happening at #ISEH2021 conference organised by @ISEHSociety . Please do check out my featured poster about my PhD work with @scienceadvocacy on molecular characterisation of expanded HSCs!
We are extremely delighted to share our latest work, describing a new system for identifying functional blood stem cells in culture! Great team effort by all authors, particularly @jimseeche and @scienceadvocacy! Check here: https://t.co/pnwGLPmT1r
Want to know what I've been working on during my PhD? This paper culminated 4 years of work from @Bode_Dan and me, not to mention excellent supervision from @scienceadvocacy and plenty of help from others!
@PrestonPysh Preston could you go into detail (or send links) about how cost of capital calculations are done and how it relates to ‘risk free’ rates. Also how exactly Bitcoin changes this. Huge fan!
@PrestonPysh@LynAldenContact@JeffBooth 1. I can imagine a transition to bitcoin standard through hyperinflation. But can you guys walk me through the details of what a peaceful transition looks like?
2. Would money printing still increase inequality, if ALL of the printed money was used for monthly UBI checks? Thanks
@elonmusk @michael_saylor Is it conceivable that the hash rate went down because energy was diverted to uses other than mining? It doesn't mean all Xinjiang BTC mining uses coal.
Congrats to @MiriamBelmont15 and Caro Oedekoven - 2 PhD students who drove this paper alongside @Bode_Dan and @fionahamey
Together they showed that fully functional HSCs can be maintained as single cells in culture - super cool!

@Crypt0Jed1 @PubliusAeliusH2 Which ones do you think won't?
When I look at the last cycle, ETH basically went sideways for months at this point (BTC shakeout), until BTC topped.
Do you think ETH BTC has topped?
@JeffBooth@Ashton__T@LynAldenContact So under non UBI conditions of a Bitcoin standard, won’t the owners of the machines and intellectual property gain all the wealth? And the people who are unemployable, won’t be able to earn bitcoins for the abundance.
Thanks for all the replies btw, I highly appreciate it!
@JeffBooth@Ashton__T@LynAldenContact I agree that Bitcoin solves a big part of the problem. I’m with you 99% of the way. Based on first principles from your thesis, I still think some redistribution will be required.
@JeffBooth@Ashton__T@LynAldenContact I do want to press you on this. Under a Bitcoin standard, why would automation not render people unemployable? It might not happen in 10 years. But machines are getting exponentially better than humans at every task right?
