Today we declared with one voice that we can and will address the crisis of vacant and abandoned homes in Baltimore once and for all by investing $7.5 billion in the city’s neighborhoods and creating a special purpose entity that can raise the capital and ensure the work is done.

This work is about dismantling the legacy of discriminatory housing policies and practices in Baltimore — including the legacy of redlining — a practice that was born in Baltimore more than a century ago. Together, we must invest to heal these wounds.
