Journal of Independent Medicine Features Global Scientific Perspectives in New Issue
Volume 2, No. 5 brings together U.S. and international researchers to examine emerging questions in medicine, including a new reanalysis of FDA data co-authored by Dr. Peter McCullough
Washington, D.C. (Sept 22, 2026) — The Independent Medical Alliance (IMA) today announced the publication of Volume 2, No. 5 of the Journal of Independent Medicine (JIM), continuing the journal’s growing international reach and its mission to advance rigorous, conflict-free scientific inquiry through collaboration among physicians, researchers, and experts from around the world.
This latest issue reflects an increasingly global scientific community examining health challenges that extend far beyond national borders. Its ten articles span metabolic health and fasting, cancer biology, COVID-19 public health policy, pharmacovigilance, vaccine regulatory science, cardiovascular pathology, dermatology, medical publishing, and freedom of scientific discourse.
“Medicine has always advanced when physicians and scientists learn from one another, and today that conversation must be global,” said Joseph Varon (@joevaron), MD, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Independent Medicine (@JIndepMed) and President and Chief Medical Officer of IMA. “The challenges facing patients do not stop at borders, and neither should scientific inquiry. As IMA continues to expand its international relationships, the Journal gives experts from different countries, specialties, and clinical environments a place to bring their observations and research into the same conversation—grounded in evidence, transparency, and a shared commitment to patients.”
One of the issue’s featured original investigations is “Reanalysis of FDA Clinical Data for mFLUSIVA (mRNA-1010),” by Nicolas Hulscher (@NicHulscher), Peter A. McCullough, MD (@P_McCulloughMD), and John A. Catanzaro (@Docjohnc). The authors reexamine regulatory and clinical-trial data from Moderna’s (@moderna_tx) recently approved mRNA influenza vaccine, using absolute benefit-risk measures to evaluate efficacy, adverse events, evidentiary basis and question the vaccine’s overall benefit-risk profile and argue that their findings warrant further scrutiny of its continued licensure.
The breadth of the new issue also underscores an important distinction at the heart of IMA’s approach to scientific independence: independent medicine does not mean working alone.
“Scientific independence should expand the conversation, not narrow it,” Varon added. “When researchers with different backgrounds and perspectives can examine evidence openly, challenge assumptions, and publish findings without commercial or political pressure, science becomes stronger. That is what Honest Medicine is about, and it is exactly the kind of international scientific community we want this Journal to continue building.”

Journal of Independent Medicine Marks America’s 250th With New Edition Advancing Independent, Patient-Centered Science
Volume 2, Issue 4 reflects on what American medicine has built, what it has lost and what must be restored—while presenting new research across medical ethics, critical care, informed consent and chronic disease
Washington, D.C. (July 16, 2026) The Independent Medical Alliance (IMA) today announced the publication of Volume 2, Issue 4 of the Journal of Independent Medicine (@JIndepMed), continuing to advance rigorous, conflict-free, double-blind peer-reviewed science.
As the United States commemorates its 250th anniversary, the new issue features timely and notable medical research and observations, including:
• The Quiet Expansion of Death: Canada’s MAID Program and the Moral Fatigue of Modern Medicine
• Two Hundred Fifty Years of American Medicine: What We Built, What We Lost, and What Must Be Restored
• Vaccine Mandates and Evidence-Based Medicine: A Narrative Review
• Why Statistical Power Matters When Measuring Vaccine Safety
And much more from America’s leading independent doctors, researchers, and healthcare professionals.
“Over the past 250 years, American medicine has produced extraordinary discoveries and saved countless lives, but progress cannot be measured by innovation alone,” said Joseph Varon (@joevaron), MD, Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Independent Medicine and president and chief medical officer of IMA. “It must also be measured by whether physicians are free to exercise clinical judgment, patients are fully informed and science can be examined without financial or political pressure. The Journal of Independent Medicine is helping restore those roots by providing a rigorous forum where evidence leads, honest debate is welcomed and the doctor-patient relationship remains at the center of care. This eighth issue demonstrates that independent science is not a retreat from progress—it is how medicine moves forward with integrity for the next generation.”
The new edition includes ‘Two Hundred Fifty Years of American Medicine: What We Built, What We Lost, and What Must Be Restored,’ a historical reflection by IMA Senior Director of Communications @LynneKristensen and Dr. Varon examining American medicine’s scientific achievements alongside changes in clinical autonomy, informed consent and the physician-patient relationship.
The article complements IMA’s broader Medicine at 250 Years project, which reflects on the history of medicine while working to restore honest, independent and patient-centered care for the next generation.

Journal of Independent Medicine Releases New Issue Featuring Major Review on Autism Spectrum Disorder and Expanding Global Contributions to Honest Medicine
Conflict-Free, Double-Blind Peer-Reviewed Journal Continues to Advance Independent Scientific Inquiry and Transparent Medical Debate
FULL STATEMENT: Washington, D.C. — May 13, 2026 — The Independent Medical Alliance (IMA) today announced the publication of the latest edition of the Journal of Independent Medicine (JIM), continuing the journal’s mission to provide a rigorous, conflict-free platform for scientific inquiry, clinical debate, and evidence-based medicine free from pharmaceutical or political influence.
The May 2026 issue features a wide range of peer-reviewed articles spanning critical care, public health, medical ethics, integrative medicine, vaccine safety, autism research, respiratory disease, and healthcare reform. Headlining the issue is a major review article, “Determinants of Autism Spectrum Disorder,” authored by researchers affiliated with the McCullough Foundation (@McCulloughFund) and led by Peter A. McCullough (@P_McCulloughMD), examining genetic, environmental, prenatal, and iatrogenic contributors to autism spectrum disorder.
“One of the fundamental responsibilities of scientific publishing is to allow important questions to be examined openly and rigorously—even when those discussions are uncomfortable,” said Dr. Joseph Varon (@joevaron), Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Independent Medicine (@JIndepMed) and President of the Independent Medical Alliance. “The Journal of Independent Medicine exists to ensure that clinicians and researchers have a credible, double-blind peer-reviewed platform where scientific evidence can be debated transparently and without fear of institutional suppression. Honest Medicine requires intellectual courage, methodological rigor, and a willingness to follow the data wherever it leads.”
Now in its second year of publication, the Journal of Independent Medicine continues to expand its global reach and scholarly impact, publishing work from physicians, researchers, and healthcare professionals across multiple disciplines and countries.
“We continue to be encouraged by the caliber of submissions coming from experts around the world who believe medicine advances through open scientific discourse—not ideological conformity,” Dr. Varon added. “Every article published in the Journal undergoes a rigorous double-blind peer-review process and is evaluated on scientific merit alone. At a time when public trust in medical institutions remains fragile, independent journals committed to transparency and critical inquiry are more important than ever.”
