The City of Tucson declared a Housing and Homelessness Emergency earlier this year. Now, the City is reviewing zoning changes that could expand where homeless shelters operate while also permitting Safe Outdoor Sleeping Areas, managed sites where people can sleep in tents or vehicles.

For Safe Outdoor Sleeping Areas, neighbors within just 100 feet of a proposed site are required to be notified. The City says additional outreach is encouraged.

The City is now seeking public feedback. If you have questions, comments, or concerns about how these changes could affect your neighborhood, this is the time to participate.
