@exedev Super interesting read. How do junior devs learn under this model though? Pre LLMs you’d learn the fundamentals by doing things like this by hand, over and over. But now that everyone is expected to operate at a higher level of abstraction, how are junior devs supposed to learn?
Imagine making 570k a year and then hearing your own CEO say AI might handle most coding within a year
Most people jump to extremes either engineering is dead or this is all hype. Reality is less dramatic honestly more practical
AI is getting very good at producing code especially repetitive work and standard patterns. That reduces the time humans spend typing that part is already happening you can see it everywhere
But large systems are not just code. They are decisions layered over time architecture choices trade offs between speed and reliability cost constraints legacy constraints security concerns none of that disappears just because a model can autocomplete faster
When something fails in production its rarely a syntax mistake its assumptions its how components behave under load its edge cases nobody modeled clearly and that still requires experienced judgment
So yes parts of the job are being compressed especially low leverage implementation work
But higher leverage thinking system design accountability those are not automated in the same way at least not today
If someone’s value is mostly writing standard code quickly the pressure is real.
If their value is understanding systems deeply making good decisions under uncertainty that still compounds
The job is changing its not disappearing

I visit Madrid several times a year. Every time I'm back, it feels more open and buzzing with energy.
London and Paris had better watch out: a new global European metropolis is emerging fast.

@pyquantnews Not a good resource. You can't just run a test to check if the price movements of a stock follow a normal distribution. This environment is strictly fat tailed.
