The mission and the price paid.

Overall, the UK’s total global exports have grown faster than those of America, second only to Canada in the G7 over the last decade – as Britain has shifted trade away from Western Europe, the slowest growing continent on earth apart from Antarctica, and towards the world’s most dynamic economies.
Just the 12-nation TPP bloc alone now commands a bigger slice of the global economy than the EU – a share set to double to well over 30pc over the next twenty years.
Since Brexit, the UK has not only avoided the annual £10-15bn contribution to the EU budget – much of it channelled into the salaries of faceless, unelected bureaucrats.
Outside the protectionist racket that is the EU’s customs union, we also no longer send £3-4bn a year to Brussels in tariffs paid by hard-pressed UK shoppers on non-EU imported food, clothing and footwear.
Rejoin the customs union and, as well as losing the 70-plus trade deals we’ve since negotiated, those tariff payments, which hit poor Brits the hardest, would also start again.
A lot has gone wrong since Brexit – and given that lockdown began just months after we formally left, followed by Russia’s war with Ukraine, disentangling its impact isn’t easy.
And it was clearly ridiculous that Boris Johnson’s Tories responded to the June 2016 vote by allowing net immigration to soar above one million, almost three-times its pre-Brexit peak.

It’s not often I write a post like this, but I feel I need too. After 19 years as a cop, and giving my life for the public I’ve never met, believing in a better tomorrow…..I’m utterly disgusted, ashamed and have absolutely no faith in our justice system anymore.
An officer was fired for arresting a violent offender, who was armed with a weapon, because he had used some naughty words. The same ex-officer tackled a shoplifter who’s been charged with a plethora of offences, but has now been charged with assault after taking the offender to the floor. (Which is what he was trained to do)
Then two violent thugs, assault various people, attack female officers, and when an officer steps in to do his job, they can’t get a guilty verdict or won’t run a final trial.
I’m lost for words and have absolutely no faith in CPS, their decision making, or the justice system.
This is not just a case for the police, but shows the greater community that if you’re decent and law abiding, witness a crime and want to help…..you’ll have the book thrown at you.
However if you want to fight to police……it’s perfectly fine to do so.

Over to you PSG, the whole of England are supporting you 🤝
The great Paul Whitehouse is 68 years old today, which means I am obliged to post this (again!) - arguably the most majestically random but brilliant comedy sketch committed to celluloid for at least the last, what, forty, forty five years?
Yes, forty, forty five years.
Happy birthday Paul 🤘
God this place is a cesspit of antisemitism this morning, so many people getting triggered over Jews performing at a song contest, it’s fucking embarrassing .. have a fucking word with yourselves 🙄
I’ll just leave this here …
It’s as though Keir Starmer is on a suicide mission as Prime Minister at this point. How did this divisive and dishonest tactic work after Southport? He has done nothing to stop the small boats, nothing to ban Iran’s terror fronts in the UK and now makes his stand on this?
A photographer took a picture just as this couple threw ashes into a river.
He asked who it was. As they answered their dog. The photographer asked for permission to edit their photo, and this was the result.
