me and co-leader have wildly different approaches towards understanding abusive behaviors so it's interesting when the two of us end up talking about it bc we focus on different things
co-leader: if people are serious about rehabilitating abusers, it would require being compassionate towards them/their past traumas instead of relying on shame as a motivator
me: here's an idea for rehabilitation, why don't we just [redacted] them
the downsides of being busy irl is that even though i do want to put effort into getting over twitter trauma i get distracted doing shit like "spend entire week hanging with friend"
me: i am going to spend some time today cleaning following, as per exposure therapy schedule
also me: *drives to friend's house and stays there until 12am doing dumb shit*
Men are abusive bc of patriarchy, women use violence as a reaction. I'm sorry but this is garbage. where does abusive women factor into this. what about abusive lesbian relationships.
This is not me saying i want anything to do with my ex-mutuals, idc what our relationship used to be, if i ever see them irl i'm going to try and **** ***. But the fact that you are just supposed to accept the damage as damage and there's nothing u can do about it? Big dislike
i have this vague memory of someone i knew who was targeted by a narcissistic abuser who abused them and falsely accused them of abuse and basically destroyed their relationships. they actually reached out to their old friends to explain the situation when they were safe
reconciliation isn't always possible, but it also kind of feels like if a narcissistic abuser can just waltz in and fuck shit up and would u look at that, there's nothing u can do but cut and run, it feels like they won and i don't like that
i love reading. when i'm angry, when I'm grieving, when i have a problem i want to solve, i turn to books and there's always an answer bc my issues aren't unique and have been explored by someone else before.
pre-2020 me would have accepted it. that was basically what i did the last couple times i tangled with narcissistic abusers onhere. I'm kind of sick of doing this though. I want to be on the offensive this time and put those bastards and their enables in the corner.
a lot of my interest in this topic specifically has to do with how all the resources I've seen about what ur options are re: narcissistic abusers destroying relationships/communities, which goes like, there's nothing you can do, cut ur losses and move on
