@SketchesbyBoze The first books I can really remember reading were Lord of the Rings and Shōgun, aged about 7 or 8. Children can read anything if they want.
@anylaurie16 Yep, my mother, grandmother, great grandfather and great grand mother all born before their parents married (and in some cases they didn’t marry)…
@guardian I’m so grateful to my mum for always taking the position that no matter how or we were, we’d always find money to buy books. We obvs also used the library loads! Shōgun and Tolkien were among my childhood favourites… And Asterix!
@SethAbramson Wow, that reminds me of the film Dr Strangelove, where a US general starts a nuclear war over his concerns about fluoridation, which he believes is a Communist plot that has sapped his virility. Totally bonkers obvs. 🤦
@PoppyLegion@mushycrouton Thanks! Couldn’t find it earlier either, but just ordered one from this link. As a veteran and member of the LGBTQ+ community, this is the poppy for me - it’s really nice to see!
@Baroness_Nichol Speaking as someone bi, S.28 had a horrible impact on me. Gay men were visible, if maligned. Lesbians were known if less common. But bis didn’t exist. I didn’t know it was a thing. It was very confusing & difficult to understand myself, & I didn’t resolve that for a long time.
@drclairetaylor I’ve spent a huge amount of time in the US (adds up to years) and can confirm they don’t use electric kettles. They tend to drink coffee from coffee machines, and if they want tea, they’ll either use the coffee machine, or heat water on a hob, or occasionally use a microwave!
@DrNeilStone And that’s just me speculating from personal experience… And I had no idea myself how easy and sensible it is get PREP if you want it - can’t sing the praises of my local sexual health clinic enough!
@DrNeilStone I’m not sure if this has anything to do with it, but I’ve found less desire to use condoms in casual gay sex now than 10+ years ago, probably because of PREP/PEP - but I suspect a lot of older men won’t be using those probably because of awareness
@MaliceDaFirenze Literally all I do in Red Dead Redemption 2 is ride around exploring and looking at the scenery - this game sounds absolutely perfect for me!
@Dr_BellaR Same - first time I hadn’t thought about it, until I saw a news article. I was in training with the RAF at the time, and it shaped the next 20 years of my professional life…
