The incident occurred when a Jeju Air flight, carrying 181 passengers and crew from Bangkok, veered off the runway upon landing, colliding with a barrier and bursting into flames.

As rescue operations continue, more than 130 people remain missing, with emergency services working tirelessly to sift through the wreckage.

The plane, identified as a Boeing 737, had a landing gear malfunction, which led to the catastrophic event.

Initial reports suggest that a possible bird strike may have contributed to the equipment failure, although this has not yet been confirmed by official investigations.
