I accidentally stumbled onto a tweet thread about localization where some dumbass said “honorifics should always appear” like Gooood tell me you don’t understand localization and that you don’t understand Japanese without telling me

95% of the time honorifics do nothing and tell us nothing about the situation. I do agree there are those 5% where they do provide information and, unfortunately, it becomes difficult to explain those 5% if you haven’t been using honorifics up to that point.
