Yesterday, the Valuation profession embarked on a journey to operate under a law. The Valuation Act 2025 provides for the establishment of the Institute of Certified Valuers of Uganda. I was honoured to be among the CVUs during the inauguration the ICVU.
Time to serve our people.
Mr. John Bosco Ogwang, from Institute of Survey and Land Management presented on the Guidelines for Uganda’s CORS (Continuously Operating Reference Stations) network at the UGRF National Workshop. These guidelines aim to ensure the efficient design, installation, and operation of CORS in Uganda, enhancing their contribution to land surveying and national development.
The CORS network in Uganda currently includes 40 government-run stations and an additional 38 managed by private companies. These stations are part of a system designed to provide accurate positioning data for various applications like land management, infrastructure development, and disaster monitoring.
CORS stations are categorized into four levels based on their purpose and precision:
1.Tier 1: These stations support global research and geodetic science, contributing data to international networks like the International GNSS Service (IGS).
2.Tier 2: Focused on national needs, these stations define and maintain Uganda’s geodetic reference system.
3.Tier 3: These provide real-time positioning services and are more densely distributed to support practical applications.
4.Tier 4: These meet specific local needs, such as for educational institutions or small organizations, and serve as backups for Tier 3.
Key factors for establishing a CORS include ensuring the site is stable, secure, and has minimal signal interference. The location must provide a clear view of the sky, reliable power (from mains or solar), and stable communication channels (such as mobile networks or satellite links). Before installation, the site’s potential for high-quality signal reception is assessed over 48 hours using specialized software.
The antennas and receivers used must meet high standards, with geodetic-grade equipment preferred for accuracy. Additional meteorological sensors can also be installed to improve weather modeling and GNSS processing. Proper coordination ensures that all stations are connected to Uganda’s geodetic reference system, providing consistent and accurate data.
Data from CORS stations should be transmitted in real-time whenever possible and archived in original formats for future use. File naming and metadata must follow standardized formats to ensure compatibility and data quality across the network.
John Bosco emphasized the importance of these guidelines in maintaining Uganda’s geodetic infrastructure. By following these principles, Uganda can ensure its CORS network remains reliable, accurate, and capable of supporting various sectors, including land management, infrastructure planning, and environmental monitoring. This system is a critical tool for Uganda’s sustainable development.
According to Dr Sameen Armed , Masturbation very okay for men , but how you do it matters . Medically a man should ejaculate at least 21 times a month so as to protect the prostrate gland and avoid prostate cancer in future .
She also advised changing style while doing it .
This is like bomb and strange
What do you think ?
