but id feel like relying on ai in coding would be detrimental to the ability to be able to fix the game should issues arrive, among other things

there doesn't NEED to be anything to make the player think to do that, they just have to use deductive reasoning that other games refer to closing the 3ds as sleeping, and using the sleep button would work.
