Interesting and insightful stuff here from Attorney Mark Peper who represents @CofCBasketball standout Connor Hickman whose temporary restraining order allowing him to play was dissolved.
-Not likely he'll return
-He won't stop fighting
-Hickman appreciative for time he had
-Time works against them
Charleston's Connor Hickman, who has played 20 games this season, has been deemed ineligible for the rest of the season.
Crazy timing as it's now mid-February.
Hickman received a temporary restraining order to play this season by a judge. He played 13 games last season at Cincinnati.
"Despite the College of Charleston's exhaustive efforts to reclaim Connor's last year of eligibility, we learned today that Connor will not be able to compete for our basketball program effective immediately. We are crushed for Connor, as he did nothing wrong. He followed poor medical advice in playing on a broken foot a season ago. Connor was not gaming the system for a sixth, seventh or eighth year or coming back from being a professional. He was simply hurt in the beginning of his fourth season," Charleston coach Chris Mack said in a statement. "The NCAA has many issues in today's landscape that are certainly challenging, but we believe the arbitrary application of the Medical Hardship Waiver process in Connor's case was unjust. Connor will continue to be a part of our program all season long as it is our shared desire for him to continue to support his teammates."
A motion to reconsider and stay the Court's ruling has been filed by Hickman's attorney, Mark Peper, and further legal action is being contemplated.
I cannot emphasize enough how huge this is. Three point shooting, veteran presence, leadership and experience. Things the cougars are massively missing right now not to mention it will allow more people to play in position. Lifesaver
Sometimes you must set aside the legal chatter & let COMMON SENSE prevail- @CofCbasketball Cougars player Connor Hickman has suffered too much- come on @Ncaa act swiftly & grant him eligibilityโNOW! https://t.co/Bs8PKPu9nJ
