@graceclarke I haven’t lost myself, but I don’t have time or energy to care for myself either. Love my girl but it’s come at a huge cost.
Literally counting the days until I can stop breastfeeding, until I can drop her at daycare and rejoin my writers group and yoga class.
@graceclarke Don’t do it until you have money to buy any accessories they need and a sense of self that says “I am a cool person who likes X, spends my time doing Y, and my self care is Z.” Otherwise “mom” becomes your whole personality.
@svenllama@CartoonsHateHer Surprisingly mine is mostly anti-husband. Very little anti-MIL. But that’s what husbands get when they spend their paternity leave building a new dirt bike for 8 hours a day instead of helping mom and a new baby 🙃
@TheKateDylan @booksandsocks I’ve never heard of this! Despite long outlines my first drafts read very cleanly but have messy planning underneath. Then I dread editing for structural issues. Reversing my process so planning comes first and the “editing” is really writing the fun bits might work!
“Men in our generation deep down want all the same patriarchal benefits their dads benefited from that they feel entitled to, but they also want to feel like modern, progressive ‘ally’ men.”
you do belong. you just gotta find your people and your place. there are soo many different spaces. the one you’re in may just not be your final destination.
