I returned to the national capital after 2 am and have rarely seen anything like what Delhi is witnessing now, with checkpoints every few hundred metres, concrete barriers and spike strips laid across our roads, a war-like deployment of 22,000 police and paramilitary across the city, 250 trains cancelled and 45 metro stations closed, and reports of young people being detained from their own homes and the streets in and around Delhi -- all to prevent citizens from peacefully raising questions about the integrity of our elections. Most regressive (as well as repressive) is the suspension of the internet in the heart of the national capital.
Freedom of movement stands completely shackled. Jantar Mantar was designated precisely so that citizens could voice dissent in the centre of Delhi, and today even the roads leading to it have been declared out of bounds. One is entitled to ask where this extraordinary manpower and urgency disappear when women in our capital need protection.
Those detained will hvre to be released .And if the protesters simply return on Monday, will the authorities lock down the national capital all over again? Our GenZ deserves better than an undeclared Emer-GenZ.
A government confident in the fairness of its elections would welcome questions about them, whereas one that turns its capital into a fortress to avoid them only deepens the very suspicions it seeks to suppress. The government should provide answers, not lathis; expression, not repression.
Barricades will do nothing to restore faith in the Election Commission, and the sooner it answers the public's questions, the sooner calm will be restored. The strength of a democracy is measured by how it treats those who question its working, and by that measure, what we have seen today is utterly shameful and unconscionable.

For 6 months, the Sangam ViharโTughlakabad Village road via Shooting Range has had deep potholes, cracks and dangerous subsidence. It is a serious accident risk, especially at night and in rain. Immediate repair needed.
@MCD_Delhi@PWDDelhi@gupta_rekha
@ians_india 25.08 - 2 HOURS. Thatโs so long I spent stuck in a massive traffic jam at the Shooting Range-MB Road interconnection. The reason? A completely devastated road left to rot for 4 MONTHS. How is this acceptable? @dtptraffic@FixOurRoads@gupta_rekha@BJPChandankr
Delhi: Heavy traffic congestion was reported on several roads in the national capital following rainfall, with MB Road near Sangam Vihar witnessing a major traffic jam. The congestion continued until around midnight, with long queues of vehicles visible on MB Road

@dtptraffic@DelhiPolice hi, any specific reason for blockage of this crossing ISKON TEMPLE to SRI NIVASPURI, it is wasting time and consumption of fuel also.
#WATCH | Delhi: AAP Delhi President Saurabh Bharadwaj says, "Whoever comes new (education minister), it is possible that they might not turn out well, too. The question that was on everyone's mind... don't just replace Dharmendra Pradhan with Nitin Gadkari or Smriti Irani. If you appoint a scientist like Sonam Wangchuk as the country's Education Minister, it will send a powerful message to the entire world... People see a reflection of Gandhi ji in Sonam Wangchuk, a man undertaking 'Satyagraha' and willing to sacrifice his life for the country, trying to make this government heed his demands through non-violence. We, too, echo what Arvind Kejriwal said: we want everyone - opposition parties, student leaders, various organisations, social groups - to come on the 20th and march towards Parliament."
When asked if Arvind Kejriwal is going to join the protest at Jantar Mantar on the 20th, he says, "I haven't spoken to Arvind ji specifically about this, but I will certainly come. Sanjay Singh has confirmed he will come. Our people will definitely come, and we want everyone to join in."
