Being an Indian American and having some Hindu ancestry, @NYCMayor Mamdani should know that India is a deeply religious and equally, if not more, pluralistic Hindu-majority nation. Indian state is mostly “secular,” except when it comes to the Hindu religion and its practices.

Mamdani and all these socialist nuts are opposing the Madison Square Garden (MSG) event featuring Mohan Bhagwat because they oppose PM @narendramodi and the @BJP4India. That’s pretty clear. Given these nuts subscribe to the ideology of socialism, they don’t understand capitalism. MSG doesn’t answer to socialist rants. They answer to capitalism. And thus this event will go on because of it. My advice to Mamdani and his choir of socialists - become capitalists, raise money, rent MSG, and host your own rally for all your anti-Modi foolishness.

Side note, I like the rally title. “Oneness”. We are ONE family. I hope this rally includes meaningful dialogue on religious freedom in India.

Interesting that Mamdani opposes Bhagwat's rally because he rejects “exclusionary” vision rather than the secular, pluralistic India he knew.

Yet days earlier he comfortably attended Pakistan’s Independence Day celebration at the Allama Iqbal Community Center, named after a thinker who rejected territorial nationalism and advocated a distinct Muslim political homeland.

If religious nationalism is the problem, shouldn’t that principle be applied consistently?
