@collinhansen I have a book I've written that may be pertinent to your Gospelbound podcast. It is called "Gospel Living: Applying the Gospel to Life Until it Becomes a Lifestyle." Let me know if you are interested in reading it
Christian, remember this, no matter what you do God will keep His name holy and glorified in the earth so fear the Lord and serve along with Him in doing that.
God confirms who He calls for certain roles but He not only shows the individual but the community of believers around them. So make sure you listen or ask your brothers and sisters in Christ if they agree with what God is directing you to do.
As a Christian, what we think we want is NEVER better than what we know we need, God. 1 Samuel 9:20 “We want to be like the nations around us...” (Israel to Samuel in their reason for rejecting God as King and wanting an earthly king)
@albertmohler Dr. Mahler I have enjoyed your thinking in public and have listened all the way back to the end of 2016. I just listened to the Benedict Option and wanted to make an observation that you already may be aware of. I am a pastor in Cleveland TN and our new guest
are from The north west, north east and big cities. 8 out of 10 new people I meet in my town are from California alone. All of their reasons are the same...they are tired of where things are going. I know their are financial reasons but I wonder if subconsciously Christians are
Christian, please do not build arguments implying that God is on “your side” when in actuality He is only ever on HIS SIDE. We must chose to be on His side by doing His will according to His word (Joshua 5:13-15)
Instructions given to any future king of Israel that are good instructions to any follower of Christ in regularly reading God’s Word. Deut. 17:20. We are never staying still in our relationship with God. We are either moving closer or drifting in the “smallest” way away from Him.
Don’t be misled by smooth talking ideology that appeals 2 your flesh or by ur own family members. If it doesnt line up w/the Word of God it is wrong! There is a strict penalty for those who lead astray because God is SERIOUS about being worshipped. (Deut 13) God will deal w/them
The truth of the Bible never changes and never will unlike the “truth” of the world that gives you fomo when you are off social media for one day and can’t keep up with what is NOW the “right thing”. Immerse yourself in the Scripture and rest in its unchanging truth
The beautiful thing about letting the truth of Scripture control your life is that when people disagree with what you think and how you live, their disagreement is with God’s Word not you. That is, if you are living in line with the Bible.
There is no sense in continuing to pray to God about something that He has already answered just because you don’t like it thinking you will get a different answer. Humbly accept the answer and submit to His will (Numbers 23)
One more thing, our sins effect other people too. Aaron was equally punished with Moses even though we hear nothing of his actions in the disobedience of Moses.
After his sister dies&the umpteenth time the people of Israel rebel against his leadership Moses wants what is best for the people but smacks the rock instead of speaks to it. We understand his frustration but this reminds us that their are no excuses for sin. (Num 20)
Responding in obedience to God after the consequences of your disobedience is too late in that area. Accept the consequences for true repentance is immediate obedience to the next thing that is God’s will without complaining. (Numbers 14)
Numbers 13 the quintessential example of how BAD news travels farther and faster than good news. The challenge as believers is will we trust our Almighty God to do what He says He will do even when it seems impossible in the physical realm?
Moses is said to be “more humble than any person on earth.” He shows this when he prays 4 the deliverance of his sister after she&Aaron just criticized his leadership b4 the Lord So being humble is desiring/praying 4 the best in others even when they dont want the best 4 u-Num 12
