@Oblomov@Take2or200 Actually, they forked the code and removed to ability to connect to the Fediverse. Just as well, they'd have been defederated anyways.
@acbenning @CavannaRose By the way, if you're still trying to get on the Fediverse, but are having trouble finding an instance that's a fit, mine is available for friends and family. It's not Mastodon, but it's Mastodon-compatible.

@acbenning @CavannaRose If you need a hand, I'm happy to help. I also made this to help people coming from Twitter to better understand Mastodon.

@flying_squirrel Oh, wait. You were pointing out an instance of a walled garden becoming more open. That went right over my head. That *is* interesting.
@m_druker Fair enough. I tend to rely on boosts/recommendations from those I follow... though I acknowledge the risk of falling into an echo chamber. I personally don't trust a black-box algorithm, but others may decide differently and that's OK. It's about informed decisions.
@jimmurphy@elonmusk I think Twitter's TOS expressly forbids this. I can't cite it, but that's pretty common. It looks like they've reinstated his old account, but he hasn't used it yet. Hopefully he sticks with Truth Social.
