We started Design Your Game this week in 5C! Students create a math game, based on one of our standards. I hope we are able to buy one of these some day! Shout out to @jm_kiel for the idea!
Guess what day it is! #StudentsTeach is going again today in 5C, focusing on surface area and volume! Our student teachers shared they were going to "pull a Mr. Lang". Be prepared to share your thinking if they're "pulling a Mr. Lang"! #McKinleystrong@dani_rypka
Tic tac toe today in 5C to practice our Math EUs! Answer it correct and you get to place your marker. Or you can move your opponent's piece. @dani_rypka#McKinleystrong
Great insight here.
"Including their perspective must be a consistent endeavor if administrators want to bridge the gap between skillful instruction and effective leadership"
Including teachers in decisions being made leads to a positive culture!
I will be teaching this new graphic as a significant map for schools and organizations to begin integrating a trauma accomodating lens through the Applied Educational Neuroscience framework! I am so excited!
Square Shuffle Tag! 🦀👣🔥
One catcher has 7 seconds to catch their opponent.
If the opponent stays away, they win a point, if the catcher makes the tag, they win the point.
Rotate, repeat!
@WannaTeachPE is out now! 📘👇🏻

#StudentsTeach is running wild today in 5C. Team EU 1 has put on a great lesson, ended with an engaging game of Blooket! Many levels of engagement. Answer the question correct you can add 2 your team's "School Guy" or you can take from someone else's! #McKinleystrong@dani_rypka
I often advocate for THAT KID. News flash: I won’t stop. But it’s critical that we simultaneously 100% support the T!
Listen. Let them vent/cry. Give them breaks. Try new things.
ALWAYS advocate for THAT KID. But be sure you’re in the trenches the whole way. #multiplyexcellence
Today we kicked off Students Teach, which is our approach to reteaching enduring understandings(EU) for math we covered from the first semester. Students voted on which EU they felt comfortable enough teaching and now in teams are designing a lesson to reteach to the classmates!
Centipede greeting in 3A this morning. What struck me most is when a student explained the greeting to another student who is new to the class. Talk about building classroom community! @JessicaZupansic#McKinleystrong
